"Our third visit for a birthday dinner wasn’t as good as previous visits. The sweet potato soup was plain; the bread was actually toast which smacks of old bread being used. My main course of Sole was smothered with capers, which spoiled the flavour. The salad was amazing; I also ordered Savoy cabbage which may be unusual with the fish but I’d had it on two previous visits and it was delicious; but the savoy cabbage that I paid £3.50 for was absolutely dreadful, so dry, probably microwaved to death; it would not be a gross overstatement to suggest that wood shavings off the floor would have been better. The other disappointment was how tired the place is looking. When I went to the gents, the cistern cover was off showing a clear huge damp problem with mould, and the door cubicle wouldn’t close because it was swollen. I imagine they have been told to keep the cistern cover off to let the walls dry out; which they should do when the pub is closed, not during opening hours. It looked awful and the visible mould was worrying. Whilst in the cubicle the light suddenly went off within seconds of being in there which was disconcerting. For the price and the level where the Cat and Custard Pot is placed it should be immaculate with excellent food. I’m disappointed for them and for us, because this has been a goto dining place for birthdays at least once a year, but we won’t be repeating the experience. It’s worth saying that we have always experienced good service and this occasion was no exception, the waitress was excellent."

Called in for a late lunch on a Saturday. The chalet area was serving food, not the pub, so pizza was available which was fine for us. It was all freshly made and delicious. Staff service was a tad slow but with only one chap on that was fine and we didn’t mind.

A disappointing stay The best experience was the wonderful receptionist Lynn who was amazingly professional warm and welcoming The bed was excellent with good linen but the bathroom floor was very dirty and had not had a clean since the last guest. The breakfast was mediocre compared to similar pubs ,the bacon being thin and tough and no black pudding available . Dinner was good but restaurant lacked atmosphere The coffee machine not a great idea Overall disappointing and we would probably not stay again Just a few changes needed

We stumbled upon The Cat Custard Pot almost by chance while looking for a quick getaway in the Cotswolds. This pub is a hidden treasure in the area, offering more than meets the eye! The rooms are lovely, the food is outstanding, and the staff is fantastic, especially Lynn the front of house supervisor, Robert the Head Chef, and June the Head Housekeeper. The young bar staff were also incredibly friendly and accommodating. Our room was charming, clean, and spacious. We enjoyed every moment of our stay and can't wait to return soon!

We stayed at the Cat Custard Pot for one night on the 5th October prior to visiting the gardens at Highgrove. We had a similar visit in June last year. This is a superb place to stay, the staff are exceptionally friendly, the rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. We had dinner and breakfast and both were excellent, the dinner menu was very good and the portions are very generous. The chef is different from the last time we stayed, but we thought the food was better this time. I van highly recommend it for anyone wishing to stay in this area. We shall definitely go back

After spending four hours walking around Westonbirt Arboretum, I was looking for a local place to eat. I made a great choice by selecting this lovely restaurant, which I could tell as soon as I walked in. The staff were excellent, providing a warm greeting at the bar and then escorting us to our table at 3:00pm on Sunday, October 22nd, 2023. The menu had an excellent selection of food, and I was hungry enough to enjoy three courses. The ham hock croquette, soup, and cheese soufflé were divine, followed by four delicious roast beef dinners. The beef was cooked perfectly, with generous portions of roast potatoes and vegetables. For dessert, we had apple crumble, Eaton mess, and crème brûlée. D...

We came across this pub on the off chance after visiting the Beaufort Craft Fair. Our group consisted of 2 adult friends. Tetbury is a lovely country Town in Gloucester where King Charles III has his Country estate of Highgrove House. There is parking behind the Inn but we missed the sign and parked on the street. It was a Tuesday lunchtime so we weren’t expecting the pub to be busy, which it wasn’t. We were greeted at the door and shown to an empty table. The hostess was pleasant, courteous and very welcoming. The menu wasn’t large but it was varied and even catered for my friend who was gluten free! We had Soup of the day with fresh bread and a side of chips and Ham Croquettes (not gluten...

"I had been in this pub for a while, but my family and I were on the way from cheltenham to Westonbirt at 17 o'clock and called for an early dinner. all four of us said that the meal was faultless, we enjoyed all three courses and cannot praise this place enough. such a great atmosphere, cordial greeting from the incredibly fabulous staff and a seat directly at the log tariff. what more can they demand. it is easy to find, beautiful location and has plenty of parking right next to the pub. in summer there is a large garden back. in februar this is the place to eat when they go to visit the colesbourne snowdrop gardens that are right in front of the house and not to miss. the menu at the colesbourne inn is huge and offers for everyone something wonderful, regardless of their taste or nutrition to choose. my calamari ‘Bar Bite’ size starter was superb and definitiw a greater part than we expected. the other appetizers, a black bell and black pudding with fried egg was superb as well as the bread selection we also ordered. mostly fish Pie....only full of a lot of different fish and whistle fish. my son had the steak and ale pier he claimed he was the best he had eaten in a very long time. two of us had the nut roast dinner.... I want my Christmas dinner to be as good as that. desserts of fruit crumbs and custard finished the meal with the obligatory glass or two of fizz. for each device in these times to offer this incredible selection of oriented, which is an absolute credit for them by the most kind of employees ever and the very high standards they did. highly recommended at any level possible. well made the colesbourne inn"
