"jangwa kalahari is an African restaurant located in caves. I had never eaten in this place, as much as I am very passionate about African cuisine. I've been a vegetarian for two years, so before I go there, I called to make sure there were vegetarian dishes. No problem, all right. I was with other friends, they ordered a stew of meat served with chickpea cream, a typical African dish. then cut meat and cheese with fries and not, all accompanied by 5 different creams, one more good than the other. I have a mix of mixed vegetables with spices and chili. great wine, very kind staff, cozy atmosphere and good prices! What do you expect? !"

"We were in Grottaglie for some ceramic shopping, but in Italy you need to eat too! This beautifully stocked shop has so many wonderful products, and interwoven into the shop itself is a restaurant which serves delicious, carefully prepared food lovingly served by the most helpful and charming Daniele and the rest of the family. While we were there, a family with small child, a lone older gentleman, and 2 men wearing biker jackets sat at adjoining tables for lunch. But first the wine. Daniele asked us what we liked, and he brought out 4 or 5 bottles of local Puglian wines, from which we chose the Vigna Castello of the famed Vallone estate, a mix of Negroamaro and Sussumaniello, well priced and absolutely terrific. The food came:: first, a large selection of Italian cured meats, featuring the rarely seen in US Coppocolla de Martina Franca, lardo, prosciuttos from Puglia and other regions, and then a equally copious platter of only young cheeses: several different sizes and shapes of mozzerella, a primo sale ricotto that was like a custard desert, and a smoked burrata which was so perfectly scented with a wisp of smoke that in no way overwhelmed the cheese itself. Anywhere else in the world, this would have been enough, but not in Italia! We both had a red wine and caciacavallo risotto which changed the way we thought about risotto. This experience over 2 hours was a delight in every way, and after that we just wanted to food shop. So we picked up some of the aforementioned Cappocolla de Martina Franca,, some very young ricotto, chocolates, spices, etc. and went on our way. Thanks Daniele and family, for the wonderful experience in this classy wine shop on the edge of town."

"Una piacevole scoperta. Passeggiando tra i vicoli di Grottaglie ci fermiamo in questo piccolo ristorante a pranzo dove siamo stati sorpresi dalla proposta culinaria. Non molte alternative (4 antipasti 2 primi e i dolci per pranzo) ma per me è un plus; pochi piatti, ma con selezione di materie prime, armonia e sapienza nella lavorazione. Abbiamo preso 2 antipasti, tartare di tonno e polpette di polpo con cipolle caramellate; proseguito con i due primi proposti (ci hanno chiesto che formato di pasta avremmo gradito...e noi abbiamo scelto, ovviamente, come di seguito): 1. Orecchiette Cacio e pepe con tartare di tonno (apprezzato molto il contrasto tra il sapore deciso di cacio e pepe e la freschezza del tonno); 2. Orecchiette con salsa di pomodorino giallo, stracciatella e guanciale croccante (pazzesco, accostamento dell'acidità del pomodoro, la sapidità di guanciale e la freschezza della stracciatella è stato davvero notevole) accompagnando con due calici di negramaro rosato. Dolce, il tiramisù scomposto con amaretto sbriciolato (la degna conclusione, la preparazione era irresistibile, la mia ragazza l'ha assaggiato prima che potessi fotografarlo). Servizio caloroso e cordiale. Conto giusto per la qualità della proposta. Se passate per Grottaglie, dovete fare un salto qui! A presto."

The food was excellent, the starters would already be enough to fill you up, the pizza was good, the dessert was spectacular, all served by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. "in caves, the furnace is an institution. I arranged a dinner with my cousins and we had the honor of having dinner on the upper floor, in a very large table, in a beautiful summer evening. we have been presented all the menus of the Sicilian courses by a very prepared waiter, so we decided to oufruit these succulent foods: ragù rice oranges, pistachio, to the norm, bruschette with anchovies, caramelized onion and peppers, bruschetta with beans and octopus, bruschetta with shrimps and stracciatella, caponata, baccalà in tempura and in humid. after eating all this we decided not to take pizza and pass to the desserts and here opens another chapter: pistachio truffle, brownies with pistachio and vanilla ice cream, Sicilian cannolo. for “drinking” of final meal: barricade and various bitters. among the drinks we took the “Tramari”, beers and the inevitable natural and gaseous waters. the owner was very kind and always present during the evening; the kind and helpful waiters. recommended location, we will definitely return!"
