Celebrated my special birthday at El Almendro! Wow, good choice! Everything well prepared and a bbq : Delicious! Thanks Maria, Chris and Debbie, a day to remember!!

Everything is fabulous about this little gem in La Mela. The staff are so welcoming and helpful and the food is top notch. When visiting nearby it’s our go to place.

We visited twice towards the end of our extended break in Cariatiz. Dinner was excellent with generous portions, friendly service and a lovely atmosphere. The Sunday BBQ was a busy affair with the usual fare on offer. The salads were fresh and plentiful, the meat selection good and the hosts super both in terms of efficiency and service. Will definitely go back on our next visit to the area.

Its is a while since last I reviewed Bar/Restaurant El Almendro but during that time we have frequently visited and have never been disappointed. Check out opening times on the website as it is usually closed during the first half of the week and you will normally need to make a reservation if eating. Off the beaten track, El Almendro is situated in the pleasant, tranquil small hamlet of La Mela outside of Sorbas. Chris, front of house and barman and his wife Maria, the chef, have been running this place since about 2008, I think.
