"We tried the White Hart during our tour of the various places to eat in town while on our walking holiday. Honestly, there are so many great places to eat in Moretonhapstead, but this sadly isn’t one of them. The food was mostly pub grub with the distinct feeling that it was more warmed up then cooked. We were also warned of a long wait for food, citing a lack of staff. While we had booked, we needn’t have bothered, the place was empty. All the locals were at the nearby restaurant instead. All in all, it’s probably worth it if you are staying in the hotel and need a meal…but in all honesty you would be better going somewhere else."

"Rather a remarkable little restaurant that we happened upon after deciding we didn’t fancy any of the nearby hostelry, despite having made a booking there at one for lunch Saturday. A short menu included a salt beef focaccia sandwich veggie vegan options together with some irresistible sounding desserts. Everything was original, imaginative, well presented faithfully delivered on the menu description with panache some extraordinary flavours. I had to ask for the menu back to try work out what I had just eaten! It was truly delicious unusual! Worth a significant detour. This has got to be one of the best light lunches I have ever eaten anywhere. A super experience"

"it was not very welcome. left doors wide open in the es pane, so was very cold. the employees are hunted before customers. was probably one of the worst pubs I was also able to locate and place with a corona virus policy, felt not welcome and the owner was rude and gave an air of unfortunateness at the bar that she could see rubbed off on others and forced a few to leave the place through its abruptness. eating was really good, can't damage the kitchen. compliments to the chef."

"When we entered the bar area it was busy and there seemed to be a nice Friday night atmosphere. We stood at the bar and waited and waited to be served , eventually a young man arrived and we ordered 2 bottles of wine to have with our meal. The pub is beautifully decorated inside, very picturesque and in-keeping with the village. We have eaten here several times in the past including before the fire so we were really looking forward to our evening. Both couples ordered the baked Brie which arrived beautifully served however one was hot and the other completely cold. I looked for a waitress but gave up and took my cold Brie to the kitchen who apologised and quickly returned with it piping hot , it was very pleasant. My belly pork and mash was beautiful and the other 2 rump steaks were very tasty. However the celiac potatoes were hard and under cooked and even when we mentioned it to the waitress she just smiled and ignored our displeasure. We didn’t bother with desserts as £205 for 2 starters 4 mains and 2 bottles of wine in nothing more than a gastro pub was enough. Such a shame as this was a fabulous village pub with a great selection on the menu and now it’s all fur coat and no knickers."

"We recently celebrated our third visit to the beautiful Bovey Castle and are already planning to have lunch in the brasserie for our first night. The food was delicious and the staff were simply wonderful. I especially enjoyed the food presentation, as it made me even more excited to eat. The price we paid for dinner was well worth it. We were so happy with our stay that we will definitely be returning for dinner. Our meal was enjoyable and we are grateful for making our celebration unforgettable. We will definitely be back again."
