Khonkaen Thai Cuisine

We have visited Khonkaen twice since it reopened and the food has been amazing both times. The service is consistently excellent and it is, without a doubt, the best Thai restaurant in the area.

This restaurant is the best place to go on Friday evenings, twice a year. The food is always delicious, especially the Thai dishes. The service is always carefree and attentive. I highly recommend it.

Poor service complained about part of chicken satay not being cooked went to complain and waiter offered me out side and was accused of being a liar was not looking for a free meal will never go back again Speisekarte ansehen

after a longer break the khonkaen is open again and dare I say better than it was?! or maybe I just missed the wonderful and consistent quality of their authentic Thai cuisine? we are happy that they are open again.

Update 24/feb/22 The restaurant has been temporarily closed since end of December. Good food, but sometimes under staffed. We like their coconut soup, but the pad thia has repeatedly disappointed. It could be so much more.

After a long hiatus, the Khonkaen restaurant has reopened and, dare I say, it's better than ever! Perhaps I simply longed for the outstanding and reliable quality of their authentic Thai cuisine. Either way, we are thrilled that they are back in business. Speisekarte ansehen

The service was pretty slow and I think they lost my takeaway order and only started making it after I arrived, but blips like this happen (particularly post-COVID). Other than that, the food was really flavoursome, the staff were friendly and the prices were good for the large portions.

pretty decent Thai food, can't go too wrong with this place. as aussie I understand how the right or authentic Thai food is. eating here is nice, I had a red curry and although it wasn’t really “traditional”, it was quite delicious. my friend ordered a Massaman curry that was also good. the personal is beautiful, the interieur is very cozy and quite clean. probably the best Thai restaurant in newbury and the general local (west berkshire,) I would see again.

brilliant little restaurant. the decor is amazing, tricked me in thinking I was on vacation! have been sitting there on a Sunday birthday of my father. fabulous eating, very authentic tasting not too fat or oily. well rounded aromes. service was stella and surprising. they offered us free drinks at the end of the meal to help celebrate the birthday of my father. very friendly and welcoming. I would recommend this to anyone who has no fear of strange cuisine! Speisekarte ansehen
