"We were hoping to eat lunch at this restaurant during a brief drive through of Sainte Maxime. The restaurant had completed more than half the allotted time for the lunch service, and two of the six tables, in a covered space where all the diners were eating, were vacant. The barman signaled us to sit wherever we liked but the waiter over-fuled him and we were allowed neither table, but required to sit in the bar area just inside the doorway through which blew a cold December chill. The tables weren't reserved; they just weren't for non-French speaking visitors. We were, instead, offered the worst table in the house. Regretfully, as a couple who travel for food, we sometimes encounter this type of arrogant attitude. We maintain 'zero-tolerance' for this type of arrogance, so we can't review the food because we walked out. But the lack of service in this instance has encouraged us to warn prospective fellow diners. Dining out experiences should be a joy and a thoroughly pleasant experience from the time you enter the door (or phone for a reservation) until you pay the cheque. These restaurant owners need to be reminded of this. We hold them to account via this social media forum."

We only frequented 4 restaurants in Sainte Maxime but this one was really the best. Nice terrace, friendly staff and a very good lunch at €12 €15.5 with dessert . The lunches are variated and very tasty, and the Ile flottante as dessert is amazing: …. Need to...come back once...

Amazing atmosphere! Only came for a few drinks at the gorgeous bar but after looking at their menu and complimentary plate of bread and meats we decided to stay to eat! Amazing portions, gorgeous food and the truffle ravioli was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had! Highly recommend Speisekarte ansehen

Decided to have dinner here after seeing the tomatoes and burrata starter in one of the previous reviews. It lived up to my expectations: great local tomatoes with lovely cheese. I then had a main of tuna tartare which was amazing. Highly recommend the place...to anyone staying in sainte Maxime.

what a fantastic little restaurant that we last night, called six adult and two small children and was made to feel very welcome by the gentleman behind the bar and the dame work in front of the house. I understand it can try young children in. to have a restaurant, but nothing was a problem, we all enjoyed our appetizers that were all excellent and the two youngs ate all foods via the kids menu steak hasch for one and salmon for the other both served with maic. the mains were then served for the adult with all the plates that empty, steak, lamb and garnel in various forms all absolutely wonderfully,Leids of this phase the children became restless, so we missed on the desserts when we did not...

"It was the best of meals, The second, not so much. On the Wednesday evening we explained that we needed one gluten free meal. We were immediately handed over to a charming lady, who we took to be the proprietor. She assured us that she would confer with the chef. We ordered a “coquelet roti” with a cream and grape sauce and a fillet steak served without sauces. Chips were covered in gluten but the chef proposed a salad for the steak and the “coquelet” came with a Gratin Dauphinoise. All the food was delicious. The chicken was soft and sweet the sauce had a depth of flavour aided and abeted by the small bursts of sweet grape juice from the grapes within it. The steak was perfect; maximum of flavour from the seared outside, maximum of soft juiciness from the tender pink interior. Dessert was a fruit crumble that had not had the crumble added, pronounced delicious, and a crème broulee. The crème was not a traditional baked vanilla egg custard. It tasted like a flour based preparation and was devoid of vanilla. All in all, the service had been attentive and the food mostly great. We determined that we would return for a second meal and looked forward to it.Mistake! Sunday evening, the waitress remembered us, and promised to check for gluten free food. She checked the Champaign sauce that was served with the Salmon. We could not have it. She was not aware that the rice, the dauphinoise and the chips all contained gluten. She suggested salad. We said that would be fine. The Dorade Royale, one of my favourite fish was sold out but they could offer Sea Bass. O.K., that would do. The salad delivered with the dry salmon was a simple bag mix of leaves, not the fresh mixed salad it had been four days before. It had brown stalks and tasted stale. The fish was undoubtedly the worst cooked fish I have ever been served. It had clearly been laid on a metal tray and placed under an electric grill. It had not been turned or moved until it was served. Consequently, the top skin was like leather. It defied my efforts with the serrated knife provided to cut through it. I had to prize it off to get to the very dry fish beneath. A simple glaze of oil would have ensured that the skin became crispy and a delicious part of the fish. It would also have ensured that the (Chef?) remembered to turn the fish under the grill. When I turned the fish on the plate, the lower side skin was a soggy mess where all the juices had soaked it through. Scraping it off, the second fillet was edible, despite the attentions of the chef. We told the waitress what was wrong with our food. She said she would tell the chef. We don’t know if she did. We did not see him."
