"we came for lunch on thursday 13th august and brought a polish friend spending time in england. when we arrived we had a drink in the bar, our table was booked for 1pm and we were not called into lunch untl we mentioned it and thought was nearer 1.30. we had the 19.50 lunch two courses, the starter was very poor, supposed to be beetroot and salmon salad but so small and no salad. the main course being rump of lamb, which consisted of a few slices of lamb on a bed of peas with a sprinkle of mint. no vegetables. we were not even asked if we would like vegetables. we had coffee in the lounge, i thought that coffee was included in the price , i mentioned to the waiter on having the bill, this was deducted. very expensive and poor, i was not impressed at all. i know we opted for the cheaper menu but still think it was poor value for money. i would not go for lunch again. i have had afternoon tea many times and alway enjoyed those and are good value. it is a lovely hotel."

Pitching itself as a more quality and upmarket establishment with the backing of big London name Angela Hartnett devising the restaurant menus. The location is beautiful and the bar and restaurant classy but friendly. I felt a little watched by the staff as it was fairly quiet! Decided to come him as The Pig at Brockenhurst has a very restrictive dog policy.

This was my first visit back to this restaurant for lunch in over a year. We decided to try the set menu, and overall it was enjoyable, though my fish cake was served in a baked crust that overshadowed its flavor. My friend ordered the lamb liver, which came with polenta and was very tasty. He also had the dessert, which was the highlight of our meal. The restaurant seemed to only use one seating area, which felt a bit odd as half of the space remained empty. The staff were very professional, and the atmosphere was pleasant.

This was my second visit to the restaurant for lunch after more than a year away. We chose from the special menu, and overall it was quite good, although my fish pie came in a pastry shell that overshadowed its filling. My friend ordered the lamb liver, which was served with polenta and onions and was very enjoyable. He then had the steamed pudding, which turned out to be the highlight of the meal. It was a bit odd that the restaurant only used one section for seating, especially since half of the area was unused. The staff were very professional, and the atmosphere was pleasant.

After a four-year absence, we were pleasantly surprised by the high standard of service, warm welcome, and attention to detail. While the menu selection could use some improvement as it felt a bit fussy, all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our food choices. The homemade bread was delicious. The pear and walnut salad starter was delightful, and the baked hake with artichokes was wonderfully juicy, complemented by a great blend of flavors. The ambiance in the bar and restaurant was beautiful, and the Christmas decorations enhanced the warm and cozy atmosphere. Well done, Limewood team! We will be back soon! Speisekarte ansehen

After being away for four years, we returned to this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by the excellent service, warm welcome, and attention to detail. While the menu could use some simplification, all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal selections. The homemade breads were exceptional. The pear and walnut salad starter was delightful, and the baked hake with artichoke was wonderfully succulent, featuring a great range of flavors. The bar and restaurant had a lovely ambiance, and the Christmas decorations enhanced the warm and cozy atmosphere. Great job, Team Limewood! We will definitely be coming back soon!

We went for Lunch with our daughters who are 8. They were wonderful with the kids and service was attentive. The food was good and the lunch menu was great value. We were well looked after though there were 3 occasions where we were asked if we wanted to order when we had already done so (one of the waiters who asked if we wanted wine actually tool our order in the first place). Not a big issue just an observation that if the price was at the al a carte menu point we may have been less impressed. Our view is that this is a great Lunch venue but wasn't convinced enough that the food and service warranted the al a carte price point.

"After all of the Celebrities chefs raising awareness on British cuisine, we have gone all the way backwards. What a disappointment the Crown Stirrup was, I came from Bournemouth to enjoy a good and traditional Sunday Lunch in the New Forrest. Did anyone tell the owner its post COVID so get your garden cleaned up. The place looks closed, and it was quite and the reason could be the food the most disappointing area served by staff that have their trousers hanging around their thighs exposing underpants and buttocks to the customers while they ate. I ordered Whitebait which were as big as sardines, so big they were coated in breadcrumbs and placed on top of the tartare sauce (not freshly made) small side salad no lemon. Whitebait are sprat, small about an inch long coated in milk and seasoned flour served with a vessel of tartare sauce and side of lemon, can have sprinkling of paprika or Cayenne. Oh but the main course was something else, overcooked beef with rubber roasts peas and carrots coated in flavorless packet gravy, glossy and shiny awful, and the red cabbage same watery purple liquid finished off with supermarket horseradish sauce. All through lunch some music blaring through what seemed like a transistor radio. Just when you thought it was safe to venture out for Sunday Lunch there is the Crown Stirrup in Lyndhurst. Close up not good for british pubs and its culinary scene."

"I didn't know what to expect when you came. we came mid-februar while on holiday and the weather was not great, so thought it was a day out undercover. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. the website is quite large, we started with the top wheel area, which was really good, it was great near some of the wacky creations that were made in the run of the years. we stopped eating a bite before it had to do, and the prices were not bad, probably on the somewhat higher side, but the cakes were very good. we moved to the main museum and were shocked to see how many cars and bikes they have built into the large building. everywhere you turn around another vehicle inconspicuously clean and many information about it. the range of vehicles is huge from the first cars to modern. we loved the 007 exhibition, where they could get up close to the cars from the last movie, it was nice to get so close without them on sockel meters away. there is an old-timer bus ride and a one-way track that they take around the website that was nice to do. we looked around the abtei and the house (included in price) and made a walk along the river. when they receive gift help they get back to the year to come, but what was not made clear at the time when they come back, they only get entering the motor museum and no other attraction or house that was a little disappointing. the only thing that it really leaves for us, although a fairly quiet day tries to eat between 12 and 2 to midday, leads to a long wait and wait. there are many picnic spots, so on a sunny day I think that would be a great place to go, but also on a wet day it is a good day out if they don't mind getting a little wet as they go between the exponate house and gardens."
