We enjoyed a delightful lunch at Upstairs at No.1 Cromer. We were seated by the window with a beautiful view of the pier. To start, we had tempura prawns and a dozen Maldon Rock oysters. Speisekarte ansehen

I believe this place is called No. 1 for a reason. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was tasty and generous. We particularly enjoyed the fish and chips and the crab sandwich. The restaurant has a lovely view overlooking the bay. It can get very busy during peak hours, so there may be a wait unless you make a reservation. I would gladly dine here again and highly recommend it.

A popular restaurant with good views over the front and pier. The staff were pleasant and the food acceptable, though not memorable. Tempura soft-shell crab as a starter was tasty but offered more batter than crab, the main course of megrim (otherwise known as Cornish sole) was OK but the fish slightly overcooked, and the dessert of lemon tart was rather too solid. All in all, not bad but only 3 out of 5.

Food was very good however they were out of stock of two of the items I asked for so it didnt get off yo a good start. It was vompounded as we were sat almost beneath the air conditioning. It was blasting out cold air and the restaurant felt like a refrigerator, so much so that I was shivering throughout desert. It was 20degrees outside with heavy mist that hadnt lifted all day. Probably the best fish and chip meal we have eaten. 4 of us had different fish dishes. I had cod and chips with mushy peas. The batter on the fish was so light. Absolutely gorgeous. Not a lover of mushy peas but shared these with my partner. They were delicious as was the homemade tartar sauce. Finished off with butterscotch ice cream. Only downside was it got very noisy when a party of 6 sat near us and we couldn't hear ourselves speak. But that's just what happens sometimes when you go somewhere.

The best fish avd chips in Cromer by far. We did have to wait an hour to be seated but it was well worth the wait. We both had the fish and chips and they were fantastic, a lovejoy pot of tea washed them down nicely. We also asked for a bread roll to come straight to the table as my partner is diabetic and due to the wait he needed something to eat and the waitress was lovely, she was really controlling the restaurant, I don't know her name, however, she was dressed in black. All of our servers were great too. They were cleaning down every table after the customers had left, this included seats and all. You were asked to sanitise as you entered too. Overall a great experience, well done all!...

Had we stuck with the Fish Chips instead of ordering the Seafood Platter, we would have saved a lot of money had a lovely food experience. Must remember keep it simple, stupid..... Being adventurous (and greedy) we ordered Haddock Chips and the Platter, plus a starter of Scallops: the scallops were fantastic, and the lobster was delicious, but the rest of the platter not so much: prawn cocktail really over sauced and really gloopy, smoked fish scotch egg loved by two not so much by the other two; popcorn cockles again loved by two, not so much the others; tempura prawns terrific as was curry mayo and tartare sauce.
