We had a wonderful meal here. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic I took a chance on the Rabbit and it was really good. The food was hot and tasty. Will be going back.

I had a well cooked sirloin steak with a peppercorn sauce and my wife had a ham cheeseboard mix followed by desserts . The Primitivo wine from Apulia was the best that i have had in the UK

Enjoyed the lunch time food here, choose the crock pots, all in one meals, but ordered side of bread rolls and chips that were so very very good. Bit on the expensive side but it was a treat so did enjoy the whole ambience.

The restaurant is very relaxing and has a lovely atmosphere. We ordered the Lakeland Beef Goulash with sour cream and it was perfect. This dish was a delight, creamy beef that melted and a proper Goulash flavour. Cheese board to finish washed down with a very good medium body red wine. Once again all the waiting staff were excellent, courteous and efficient.

We travelled from Saddleworth on the Pennines to dine at Appleby Manor as we had been given a gift of a fine dining experience. We combined a nights stay and the meal with a trip to Scotland. Beautiful food and an inventive menu, the amuse-bouche was to die for! Very polite and efficient staff, we will certainly make a point of returning to dine when next in the vicinity. Service was second to none. Lucy in the restaurant was very professional and friendly. The food in the restaurant was superb. We had the 4 course meal. All the food was delicious and well presented. Steaks were cooked perfectly. Loved the wine pairings to go with each dish. Breakfast the next morning was fine. Poached egg a little over done. Could do with fresh fruit salad available rather than just tinned. Other than that it was okay.

I had the Salmon done three ways starter which was quite nice. For our mains I had steak which had to be sent back because it was **** and I had asked for medium. My wife had a ‘rack’ of lamb 2 small cutlets only (hardly constitutes a rack) . My wife had the lemon tart for desert which was quite nice. Service was good. Overall impression was that the food was expensive for what we had, notably £26 for two lamb cutlets plus a few veggies.

After completing Ben Nevis, one of our fellow friends became unwell and was unable to to continue to the other mountains to complete the ’Three peaks’ under 24hrs. We see this amazing castle on route back and checked in later that evening. The grounds facilities are stunning. They where very accommodating with their restaurant menu. We were served with outstanding food and the personal touch especially with the Chef ‘Chris’ who actually came out and presented what we were eating which I thought was a really great touch!
