"Best seared lamb in some time I popped in as I couldn't get broadband. It actually had good internet speed for out in the sticks and was the same as in central Marlow on the speed checker. Stayed for a meal with my wife and just had the pan seared lamb , truffled mash, wilted greens& rosemary jus. It was superb the best I have had in some time. Bravo. £24 pounds feels like the correct price. My wife had the beef burger which was great and great crispy chips (Surprisingly hard to find) Will we be going back a firm yes Oh the pots of Tea were nice with good strength. I am a tea aholic. Dessert menu has good choices as well. Went for affogato for desert which my wife loves she loves coffee. _______________ 4 star first rating Popped in as we were in the area and went for the special curry. The beef was really tender, slow cooked. With great texture. Nice flavour curry although it was pretty hot which was good for me and my wife. The rice was well cooked. The house wine was reasonably priced and tasted good. They do a few cocktails but didn't have a big range if that is your thing. They had some great dips with apocot and yogurt and a red salsa dip. It just needed a couple of popadoms. The curry was nicee than our local Indian. The pub is pretty old worldy and has nice gardens. We will probably pop back for a Sunday roast some time to check it out again. It was probably a 4.5 but that's not a rating."

Lovely meal here on a Wednesday evening. The waiter couldn't have been friendlier. The menu is quite limited, but clearly very well thought out and freshly made. As a veggie there was only one option on the starter and mains for me, but both of these were very nice. It is at the expensive end of pub food, but nice enough for the money.

I worked here and honestly if you knew the state of the kitchen you wouldn’t eat here! Maggots (woodworm) falling into food from up above you, the ceilings are about to cave in because they’re in such disrepair. They even keep the baby seats in the dirty disabled toilets!! Your children eat from these!! I won’t continue my plight for you to stay away…you can figure the rest!

I highly recommend the Royal Oak. Like other recent reviews, the service has recently dramatically improved thanks to new owners. The service was very friendly and welcoming. Despite being a busy sunny Sunday, the service was quick and the food was delicious. What more can you ask for?! The beer garden is well kept. My only piece of feedback is the picnic bench nearest the car park has had its day and could do with replacing. We will be back. Lovely pub.

We had an amazing experience at The Royal Oak last week. After a two hour walk through the Chiltern Hills, we stopped to grab some lunch and warm up next to the fire. The food was lovely and the staff were very attentive. What's more, my girlfriend got a call that she had just landed a new job to which the staff brought over two complimentary glasses of Prosecco to celebrate! We will definitely be coming back next time we are in the area and strongly recommend paying the pub a visit!

The Royal Oak has been in decline over the past couple of years but we were there this week for the first time in a long time. What a transformation. Happy pleasant staff serving great fresh food. There were five of us and we tried all three pies which were full of meat and the salmon and prawn one was similarly wholesome. My wife said the Sea Bass was one of the best she had eaten in a longtime. Everything was piping hot and served nicely. All in all a lovely family evening. Nearly every table was full and due to that the two waiting staff were struggling a bit. But there is no doubt we will be back.

since being taken over, it's lost its magic, always use to be packed! going to rate this as a 2. went for lunch end of June 2022. online booking said nothing until 3 pm. Phoned them booked us in for 1. on arrival all OK, only half of the outside table occupied, and only 6 tables inside occupied. so why did it say online no space until 3 when clearly there was? food was OK, but has lost its edge on from previous visit which was before they were taken over. coffee had to send this back, made from a coffee pod!, seriously! had table next to hatch to bar, staff served us drinks through the hatch, couldn’t be bothered to walk around. new waitress was good, seasoned staff maybe could do with a ref...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Royal Oak pub in Marlow, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with warm and friendly service that made me feel right at home. The pub itself has a charming and inviting atmosphere, perfect . The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure that my visit was enjoyable. The menu offered a great variety of options, and I was impressed by the quality of the dishes. Each bite was bursting with flavour, and the presentation was impeccable. They also had an impressive selection of beverages! I cannot recommend The Royal Oak enough. Whether you're looking for a place t...

The Royal Oak is back! and back for good! This place was always a favoured eating and drinking establishment for us a few years ago. We are fortunate to be able to walk and take the dog to enjoy the beautiful garden and ambience. Sadly over the last 7/8 years this was not the case and the place was soulless, expensive and poor in everything it did! NOT ANY MORE! The new owners are well on their way to reclaiming the top spot in Marlow for great food served by a great passionate team in relaxing surroundings! A few weeks ago one of the owners Alex) stopped by to drop a leaflet at our door advertising that it was under new local ownership. She was engaging, honest and listened intently for fee...

"We live in Marlow and have been to Sindhu a number of times, and previously enjoyed it. Not this time the food was good (not great) but the service was appalling. Way too rushed and unprofessional. We arrived at Sindhu around 7:45pm, expecting to have a pre dinner drink at the table. No chance! The first thing we were offered were popadums, then they took our drinks order. We opted for the wine pairing to go with the tasting menu. The total bill for two came to £325, but as this was our first night out together in months we were happy to pay this for a long evening with good food and drink. The first course came before we had finished the popadums, but it seemed to speed up from there. Th courses were small, but we were expecting that, but what we weren’t expecting was to be given the next course as soon as the previous one finished. Each wine was brought over with a very unenthusiastic rushed explanation of what it was. At one point we asked the waitress if we could delay the main course to give us chance to breathe between courses. She didn’t really understand what we were asking and stated that we had a palate cleaner before the main course. Which arrived immediately. Our meal was done by 9:45, 7 courses plus popadums all served in two hours, 15 minutes to eat a course and drink a glass of wine. We were the last table in the restaurant (there were only 6 tables altogether on a Friday night). When we left, the waiter already had his hoody on ready to leave, emphasising that the staff were just wanting to leave. At it was only 10pm! We won’t be returning. No way should this be considered Michelin starred food."
