We mainly go for breakfast. I have had a evening meal here with my family. Service and food are spot on .

We had lunch at this canal-side pub last week, and we were very impressed. The staff was friendly, the food was delicious, and the beer was excellent. We definitely plan on visiting again in the future.

Went there for an impromptu lunch on a Monday afternoon, and very nice it was too. Great service and banter from the staff, very friendly, with great food, the tandoori fish and chips is a great choice. Highly recommended and we will return.

We like to eat out and are willing to spend money on it, but unfortunately the price-performance ratio here is not right at all. Fried scampi (finished products) with homemade fries says it all. In any case, it sounds better on the map than it is as it is.

Sunday lunch the food was appalling very small came with one slice of carrot and parsnip two roast potatoes meat cut that thin and one small bowl of vegetables for four .Deserts were small the only thing I can say that was ok was the cheese board will not be going back any time soon

We came for my mums birthday meal tonight, the place was very busy and staff were running around but still made time for us. Alice especially was amazing, extremely attentive and smiley and nothing was too much for her, despite the long wait for food we had a lovely time and food was delicious. Thank you so much for the service would strongly recommend .

19/20/08. My wife, our two large dogs and me have called in here for an overnight stop in our motorhome, when on route between home in whitby and holiday in Cornwall. Doubling up as nice place to catch up with family who live Stafford. Place is clean and tidy, menus are adequate for all tastes. The breakfasts are very good. This is a wonderful family-run pub that exudes genuine hospitality, a must-have in every village. The menu features classic English dishes executed perfectly, with a few specials to choose from. The beer selection includes well-maintained real ales such as Marston's Pedigree and Greene King IPA. I enjoyed a delicious pear and goats cheese bruschetta, followed by a satisfying 10 oz rump steak with excellent chips, and finished off with an apple pie reminiscent of my grandmother's recipe, complete with a generous filling and served with high-quality vanilla ice cream. We waited and waited for our breakfast and decided 45 minutes and no one updating us when we had asked where our food was, was too poor. We left. Some observations there are lots of staff but they are incredibly young. There always used to be someone clearly older and experienced who was in charge and directing things. Not now. Absent the missing food the coffee was less than lukewarm unacceptably so. We were stood waiting for around 5 mins when we arrived before anyone came over to seat us. I think that is crap. If someone goes to the bar and says ‘look we have been waiting over half an hour’ the right way to deal with it is not to argue and say that your system says it is only 20 minutes....
