"We were looking for somewhere nice to stop for lunch whilst on the way to Ilminster and found The Almshouse Tea Shop on Google. Highly recommended, I phoned to see if we needed to book a table, as we were only 20 minutes away, and the lady who picked up the phone (the owner? was super friendly helpful. When we arrived we found a table outside (we were told there was no need to book this time and as the tea shop is set in the historical market square, the views of the buildings surrounding us were beautiful. I went inside and ordered a sausage roll salad and also a cheese red onion scone, plus a some cakes. Everything was absolutely delicious! The lady who brought our food out was the same lady I spoke to on the phone and again, she was super helpful. She told us about the Axbridge Heritage Trail which we will definitely try next time. Would strongly recommend The Almshouse Tea Shop and intend to visit again upon our return journey in a few days!"

"I will never visit this restaurant again. When I arrived, there were no staff present and no clear indication of where to find my room key. The reception area was locked, and I had to wait until another guest helped me access the information sheet in his room. I called the duty manager, who arrived promptly and sorted out the key situation. However, someone had already taken my assigned room, so I was given an upgrade to a different room. Unfortunately, the TV didn't work and the curtain was falling off. The bar and restaurant were only open for weddings and events, and breakfast consisted of instant oats and jam left in the room. I used to enjoy staying at this hotel, but this experience has changed my opinion. I give it one star overall, with two stars for the room and two stars for the location. It's a shame to see the decline of what used to be a great place."

"fantastic place to visit. large beer garden for children, fantastic ale for adults and eating is for everyone. would deffo be my native if I were not living 200 miles away. it is a must if at all in somerset. (april 2015) back in the new inn 12 months after our last visit and we have made it priority to call for a few beer and a wonderful meal. it was not disappointed, absolutely fantastic eating, super friendly staff and a pub with real character. oh and the children love the playground again in the sunshine. the fucking love this place. "Went here today with friends and had a lovely lunch. Not busy at all so not a great deal of atmosphere. Hope it’s not all the scary news stories. The tables were well placed out, the service was excellent. We had the croquettes to start..., simply delicious , we often bring them back fro Spanish markets (well did) these we on par. Great wine choices . Mains were all great , the burger was delicious, the salmon a great choice, the sausage and mash amazingly presented. They accommodated the older guests with child sized portion desserts. Love it here the staff were brilliant, as was the food. Well done we will be back, hopefully others will too."

"I often visit the Pantry for lunch with friends and have been meaning to write a review. I love this place. What makes it so special is the people who work there. Nothing is ever too much trouble and the lady who owns it is just lovely. Today I visited with a friend and I had my favourite chicken, brie and cranberry panini. It's such a great combo and comes with the tastiest coleslaw and freshest salad. You know when the salad is going to be good when the tomatoes are deep red in colour. My friend had the brie and cranberry sandwich on granary she was blown away. The bread was cut thick and was clearly fresh in today. And don't get me started on the cakes! i usually have the Victoria Sponge with apricot jam (it's insanely good but today I went for the lemon drizzle. It did not disappoint. I now can't decide which one is my favourite. The menu inside is varied and they serve breakfast all day. A great cafe, run by caring people and a wonderful ambience. Thank you :"
