"We went for a Valentine's Day meal and were seated at 8:20. Our order was taken about 15 minutes later, but our drinks did not arrive with our food. We asked the food runner to check on them, but he never returned. Finally, a waitress came to do a check-back and we asked again for our drinks. By the time our drinks arrived at 8:55 (almost 40 minutes after being seated), my partner had finished his food and I had eaten most of mine. The dirty plates sat in front of us until 9:35, when we had to flag someone down for the bill. After waiting another 10 minutes, we received the wrong bill. When we requested the correct bill and asked for the service charge to be removed, it took another 10 minutes to get the correct bill. We eventually left around 10pm. As someone who manages a restaurant myself, I understand that it can be busy, but the lack of apology or communication from any staff, including a manager, was unacceptable. It seemed like many other tables were also having similar experiences. Throughout our meal, there were additional issues such as staff dropping oily food by the entrance without putting out a wet floor sign, and staff complaining loudly next to customer tables. This is the first time I have felt the need to leave a negative review."

Went to a cocktail making class as part of a friend's hen do! Had the absolute best time and the manager who ran the session was so fun and really made the day funny and enjoyable. Sad that our team lost but proud of our final cocktail creation at the end!

Disappointed sadly. Booked a table at lunchtime on a Sunday. We arrived and it was 80% empty only 9 tables occupied. No atmosphere at all. The staff were very pleasant and helpful but there was so many of them compared to customers. A lot of menu items weren’t available. The dishes we ultimately ordered were okay but it just wasn’t the experience we were expecting. We didn’t bother staying for another drink after lunch, we went elsewhere. Would I re visit? Probably not.

We had a large booking of 22 people, we were asked to preorder our meals. The meals took in excess of 45 minutes to arrive and then I had to wait another 20 for my kebab, meaning I waited over an hour for my meal. After this, we had to wait another 45 mins for the desserts, to be told that the pornstar cookie dough many of us had ordered was unavailable. We were disappointed, as the preorder was not able to be met. I received a 10% discount on my bill which I was thankful for, but will not be returning on a Saturday night. I certainly wouldn’t recommend booking a large table here they can’t cope.

we went in there after my wife recommended me it, and said there is one in coventry and their food is super good, very friendly staff and attentive, all though the food not so much i ordered my first ever sunday roast the chicken was so dry to the point it was uneatable, poured 2 whole pots of gravy just to be able give it some hydration, and the carrots were rock hard. my wife ordered the hanging chicken kebab, she said it was great, i personally didnt complain at all about my food cause i dont usually care, food is food for me. but the problems began when we got home both of us fell sick. badly sick.

Visited Sunday after playing crazy golf nearby. We opted for here as we had read the menu outside looked like it had a wide variety of dishes. Inside was pretty Empty with staff not really seeming to know what they were doing. Ordered two drinks two beef roast dinners which were priced at 19.95 per roast. What came out wouldnt feed a child. 3tiny slices of meat which were cold. Undercooked frozen roast potatoes a burnt Yorkshire. Whilst eating I had to ask where our drinks were which we were told they were on there Way. They never came... I had to ask again as we were getting up to pay the bill the drinks came. We turned them down as we wanted them before our meal. Was left hungry underwhelm...

We visited for Sunday lunch which was £19.95. Opted for lamb. Obviously frozen precooked as same cut of lamb came out on both orders. Yorkshire’s cold and burnt. Frozen veg barely warm, only hot thing was frozen roasties. We called the waiter over about the Yorkshire’s as they were inedible. Manager came over. I explained only hit item was potatoes. Waiter returned with hotter veg, still hard and poorly cooked, and hot Yorkshire’s. The manager kindly took money off the bill but I was looking forward to a good roast dinner. Sadly we could not return again and would advice others reading this to give it a miss for a roast dinner. Can’t comment on other dishes. Shame because service was great....

We chose the Valentine's set menu at this restaurant. Initially, we were impressed by the beautiful atmosphere and decor of the place. We were greeted by a friendly lady at the front desk and our server introduced herself. However, we had to wait around 30 minutes for our drinks, while other couples who arrived after us received theirs promptly. The starter, a Camembert sharer, had hard bread and undercooked cheese. The cocktails were mostly ice with little fruit and alcohol. The main course, a sharing kebab, was cold and bland, lacking the upgrade we had requested for the chips. The courgette was raw and everything needed more cooking time. Dessert was bland and served on a hot mini skillet...

We chose this restaurant based on our positive experiences at other Botanist locations in the UK, but unfortunately, this particular branch did not meet our expectations. Upon arrival, the waiter mentioned that they almost gave our table away due to a 15-minute policy, even though we were not late. This made us feel a bit uneasy. The service lacked pleasantries, but our waitress was friendly. I ordered the Prawn Linguine and my boyfriend had the Thai Red Curry hanging kebab. The linguine was oily and overwhelming for me, but my boyfriend enjoyed his meal. After our mains, we were given dessert menus but were told we had to leave as the next table arrived. This contradicted the assurance we h...

Excited to visit Cheltenham with friends and the Botanist seemed a good option as we have been to the ones in Cardiff and Marlow and have had great food and service. What went well: The decor was nice and some of the team gave great service. They were flexible in moving the time of our table back a bit as we were running late. We later realised that the moving of the table time was fine as the restaurant was about 80% empty, odd as a Sunday in the run up to Christmas. What wasn’t so good: The service was slow and when the food arrived it was fairly cold. The shared pot of veg for the Sunday roast was small and lots of us left hungry. The waitress tried to guess about gluten free options and...

"The story: Two weeks prior, peeking through the restaurant window, I was intrigued to see the kitchen artizans hard at work creating sushi platters that looked vibrant but also elegant. On the 14th November at lunchtime, I was looking forward to trying Kibou as Japanese cuisine is one of my favourites. It's very hard to see the same level of unique variety that Kibou has compared to the few Japanese restaurants I am local to. We wanted to try an array of items and the mini seasonal menu had just been released in time for our visit as well. The food: The Jo Moriawase and New Style Sashimi were great introductions to the first impressions of the quality and range of the dishes available as they were the assortment dishes. Our server provided us with guidance on what we should try first on the Jo Moriawase in order to prevent ending up with eating soggy nori which we appreciated. The Black Cod Nigiri is nothing I have ever tried before so this was also an interesting experience for our tastebuds. My dad has a tough palate to appease but to my surprise, he was satisfied with the Spider Roll Temaki and Chashu Ramen (he thought the pork broth could have been less strong but nonetheless still enjoyed, not like the artificial flavourings you get in an instant ramen if you know what I mean). The Chirashizushi was great for me as I love my sashimi. I didn't realise the yellow portions were actually tamago/egg roll until I tasted it. Some sort of gastronomical wizardry? My mum really lavished the Yaki Udon textures, with the udon noodles having the right amount of nudge needed to chew and biting into the nice crispy outer layer of the tofu. My only regret is not having enough room to try the desserts. Overall, a unique adventure for the tastebuds! The price: If you are extremely budget conscious, perhaps I would not be able to recommend Kibou to you. For a family of three, we were about £40-50 per person. As of my visit, the service charge is 10%. Don't get me wrong though, I think the service charge is fair and reasonable because our experience with the staff we talked to and came by our table were lovely. The atmosphere: Family-friendly but also evening bar feel. Sakura Cherry Blossom and other Japanese-related art themes run throughout the restaurant. The service: We didn't have to wait very long to be seated or served. The waiting staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. The kitchen staff did an amazing job with the food. Would I come again?: Yes, as a treat! Plus I want to try the dessert next time! :"
