"I am sat here at the moment eating one of the least fussy but incredibly tasty burgers I’ve had for a long time. This cafe is great. A real feeling of community and heart with climate change info around, leaflets for a forthcoming comedy night, a loo complete with marker pen to leave a message, and charming staff. I see lots of complaint about the cost. There is information around about careful sourcing of ingredients and it tells. For those that want to pay 50p less for something tasteless in a place completely lacking in social conscience or any atmosphere, there is a Costa opposite. Personally I think this place is doing a fantastic job. Right, now off so sample their cakes..."

Stopped here for coffee and cake and it was nice. Very nice to see vegan (dairy free) cake options available. Staff friendly and helpful.

Popped in for a quick lunch whilst waiting to go to the opticians. The menu didn't have anything without bread suitable for a vegetarian, everything came with bread. The waitress was friendly albeit run off for feet, ended up just having a drink. Why have you stopped doing jacket potatoes?

Very basic. Confused about its identity. No contact tracing being carried out, first place we’ve encountered this issue so far. Didn’t have faith in the cleanliness. Things go downhill when you go downstairs. Graffiti everywhere and general feeling of grubbiness. Staff member pleasant enough but will not be returning.

Needing to eat gluten free in Brecon and and was lucky to find The Cafe, owners took time to discuss the menu with me and prepared the most delicious Swedish meatballs (in a mushroom sauce) I have had. Also had one of Charlie’s special gluten free scones with cranberries, absolutely fantastic. Definitely recommended if coeliac (or if not) and want to eat in Brecon. Speisekarte ansehen

A lovely vibrant cafe, newly redecorated and with local art on the walls. Reasonably priced and really delicious food and drinks. A great range of cakes homemade on site, with superb vegan and gluten free options. The carrot cake is excellent! And the millionaires shortbread, aptly named ‘billionaires’! They source their ingredients locally where possible, which I really appreciate. Charlie, the owner, is a delight to talk to! The comedy night is brilliant too!

The Cafe is a stylish, welcoming and characterful place to spend an hour, with local artwork on the walls and local produce for sale. The menu is full of gorgeously tasty homemade meals, excellent vegan options and an array of beautiful cakes baked fresh every day and displayed abundantly on the counter. Service is friendly, personal amen quick, and there’s a sunny spot outside to sit and drink coffee and watch the world go by. Children and dogs all welcome. Couldn’t ask for better!! I keep going back.

What is it with these places, trying to be hip and trendy? The Cafe is failing miserably. Uncomfortable, grubby seating area, dismal toilet down a very steep flight of concrete steps, right next to the kitchen! At our age we should have learned to ask the price of items. The chalkboard on the wall had some items priced, sandwiches were not! We ordered 2 sandwiches tea for 2. Shop bought bread bog standard fillings. Upon asking for bill £14! No card payments! How do these places get away with such inflated prices? Lesson learned Speisekarte ansehen

Central to Brecon is the Café which does the usual soups, sandwiches and snacks. Quite enjoyed my pork pie plough-mans with strong cheddar and Caerphilly too, pickle, salad fresh brown bread and side salad dressing. My wife enjoyed her scrambled eggs too on the same fresh brown bread, but toasted. Café originally half full at 12.40 by 1.15 we were half of the occupants. A good rating would have been given but for two things; the bitter flat white, or was it stale coffee beans[? , and the sole toilet being covered, including the loo seat, with graffiti -very strange and a bit sad.

Found one or two pretentious and fussy cafes in Brecon which were busy. Here ‘The Cafe’ is not fussy or pretentious. It does a varied menu for lunch but simple. The cakes were delicious as was the ploughman’s. It is a little gem really-the decor is interesting and atmosphere is extremely cosy and friendly. This is in no small part down to the owner who has a great way with people. She was lovely and funny (in a good way) making the whole place feel relaxed. She is a very interesting person too. Ask to read her poetry. I would definitely go there again. Don’t go if you’re looking for fancy and fussy. You go here to eat and drink in relaxing surroundings for a very good price.
