The Distillery - Speisekarte

We visited after a friend referral. On arrival place was decorated to great standard and was very quiet which surprised us. We waited 45 minutes for our Sunday dinner in a nearly empty restaurant but food was lovely once arrived. Wouldn’t hurry back again unfortunately

I visited this restaurant for Sunday lunch last week and was disappointed. When it first opened, the Sunday lunch was amazing with tender meat, but on this visit, the meat was tough and the food was only lukewarm. The fresh vegetables and cauliflower cheese were bland. The price for a dinner is reasonable at £8.95, but the quality is not as good as it once was.

We stopped by for a girls' day out. The decor is impressive, but that's where the positives end. The cocktails were mediocre at best, with too much ice and no garnish. We saw a selection of flavored shots on the table and considered trying them, but out of 10 options, only cucumber, coffee, or mango were available, so we passed. Passing through looking for somewhere to eat stopped off here for a drink, apart from another couple we were the only ones in, it was incredibly quiet so lacked atmosphere, the prices are above the norm, nearly £7 for a Guinness half a cider, will wait a while before calling back as they need some clientele. On the plus side the bar was very clean decorated to a lovely standard no problem with seating so we nabbed the window seats.

We had a 50th party recently it was a great night until there was some confusion with the DJ's payment as his services had not been confirmed. There were faults on both side, I am not laying the responsibility completely with the Distillery but after spending nearly 30 years in customer services the way the manager approached this situation was very un-professional. I would just like to take the time to say the staff were excellent.

I returned after a few years for drinks on my sister's birthday. The selection of gins seemed smaller than previously although there were some lovely ones, like The Botanist as seen in a cocktail in the pic with elderflower tonic and a slice of grapefruit. The bar staff said that gin cocktails were half price although when we got the bill, we found this offer was on other days. I do hope this place does well as it's a great concept and location. Popped in last week for a late drink, was at the bar booking at gins to have and noticed that during the week it’s 50% off on most gins. Picked my favourite that was on the deal. Bonus! I asked for lemonade in my gin, was filled up to not even a half a glass. Went to pay and noticed the young girl charged me for a rose lemonade at £2.70. Said I didn’t have that, she apologised and changed it to lemonade. Got my card out and noticed that the lemonade dash was £1.70. Did that’s a lot of money for a small dash of lemonade! Got well yeah I know. So a pint of larger with a 50% off gin and lemonade still come to over £800!! Now how is that a good deal!! Totally rip off I say

My partner and I came across a great deal for Thursday night at this restaurant - 2 steaks and a glass of wine for 15.95. We figured it would be decent, but nothing special. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The steak, an 8oz rump, was absolutely amazing - cooked perfectly with no fat to be found. The onion rings, chips, and salad were all delicious as well. We both enjoyed the red wine with our meal, which paired perfectly with the steak. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem in Chester le street. We can't wait to go back next Thursday and try out the other dishes, including the Sunday lunch. Overall, we were very impressed and couldn't find any faults - a rare occurrence! Great job, D...

Me and my partner went in after seeing a sign advertising 50% of selected gins. Upon arrival we were greeted by a female who was one of our hosts for the evening. She informed us that they were still serving food however this would be from a takeaway elsewhere. We were given a drinks menu but this did not highlight which gins were included in 50% off. We asked a male member of staff who pointed at the blackboard. However this was not visible from our seat, we slightly stepped away from the table to view, but we could still only see half the board.
