Good quality food which was fairly priced, the staff were friendly and welcoming and the pub had a nice atmosphere. Would recommend.

If I had a pound for every time I have driven past the George…. Had Sunday lunch today and I can’t fault the place brilliant staff great welcome and a very much needed relaxed meal with fantastic food. Well done guys we will be calling in more often 10/10 Speisekarte ansehen

We visited here for my father in law's birthday. Helen had put banners up on the wall and on the tables for us when we arrived. The food was good value for money and delicious. The service was outstanding and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend the pub to any of our friends .We were accommodated at short notice as well, less than 24 hours.

A lot of the items on the menu they did not have so had to change our original orders, what we got was good, dessert was lovely but coffee they said they had alternative milk but it was out of date by 2 weeks so in the end did not go with the coffee. The wait was unacceptable, no apology they were not busy but took a while for the food to arrive, we stayed as was chatting with family and they had recommended this pub so felt bad.

I hadn 't been to this pub for at least 10 years...it may be 12...or even 15!. That clock was reset to zero last night when a group of us went there for dinner. And what a lovely experience it was, a few regulars, a decent number of diners for a Thursday night...and the bunch I was with. I 'd say simple, reasonable priced pub grub but, there was another menu that I didn 't see until after I 'd ordered my food...I 'll order off that menu next time 'cause those dishes looked even more fab)...Donyatt, I promise I won 't leave it 10 years before my next visit! Our first visit to this cosy pub, the menu is extensive with all the usual pub favourites plus some ambitious-sounding specials. I chose the pan-fried venison which was amazing....tender, pink venison in a delicious sauce with bacon lardons, baby onions and mushrooms with dauphinoise potatoes....a huge helping but just couldn't resist eating it all!! Two of us had the duck breast on a bed of bubble and squeak, which was also yummy. These two dishes alone prove that the chef is way above average. The young staff were very attentive, quick and efficient which is often a rarity these days. So all in all a successful night out...just a shame that it was so damn hot that evening...we were anxious...

The George was warm and welcoming and the staff were very helpful. We chose two courses from the Wednesday fixed price menu at £17.70 per head which we thought was good value for money. The food was very tasty and we enjoyed our meal. The choice of ale was limited but my husband had Guinness which was fine and I had a half of a locally brewed beer. When the bill arrived it was for over £65 and I could see the mistake immediately as we had been charged for the 2 fixed price two course meals plus another 2 starters. I politely said that I thought the bill was wrong at which point it was recalculated. I have to say I found two things really disappointing the chap behind the bar was very offhand...

We first called into the George in October this year for lunch on the way to a family holiday on the south coast. The welcome we got on that occasion was so memorable and the food so good that we thought we would try and book a Christmas meal. What a fantastic choice we made. Helen and the team went overboard to accommodate us, from the minute we walked through the door we felt so welcome. The meal itself was fantastic. We cannot comment negatively about anything except the brussels sprouts but then its a standard Christmas joke. In reality the sprouts were great. The locals were friendly and we had a good banter after our meal. My wife commented dont tell my mum but that is probably the bes... Speisekarte ansehen
