"The food and ambiance at Idle Rocks were as impressive as ever during our sixth visit. However, the service was not up to its usual standard, possibly due to the current challenges we are all facing. Our reservation was lost, we were not provided with steak knives for our party, our drinks were spilled while being served, and there was no bread offered. Our main server was excellent and the other staff members were very good, though it seemed like there were many new faces and they may still be in training. Overall, the table, drinks, and food were great, but it wasn't as polished as our previous visits which had set a very high standard. Despite these issues, we would still dine and drink there again without hesitation."

Fabulous! What more is there to say? As I find I must write more than 50 characters I would add: The food is fantastic, the atmosphere lovely and welcoming, and the service from start to finish absolutely first class. It is the best restaurant in St Mawes by a mile.

As ever, the food and setting of The Idle Rocks was as great as ever this is now the sixth time we have eaten there. The service was not as great as ever and maybe that is due to the current challenges we are all experiencing. Our booking had been lost, there were no steak knives (three out of four of our party had steak), our drinks were spilt when being served and there was no bread. The main waiter was great and all the other staff were very good, but a lot of new faces and maybe still training.
