"I first reviewed the Kinmel Arms on a hot summer day in August 2016, when we had our meal in the sunshine outside when we were first exploring the possibility of moving into the area. No such sunshine when, having lived here three years, we...went again today on a bleak chill autumn day with a threat of rain! And we've also been to the Kinmel a couple of times subsequently, prior to our visit today, though I didn't review those later visits on this site. Our impression on our first visit was positive: pretty standard pub grub', but well presented and quickly served by friendly staff at a very reasonable price. I was less taken with the place on the second visit; the menu seemed less varied than previously and those was only one main course that really tempted me. And the service felt a bit perfunctory, though the meal which I chose was well cooked and tasty. On the third visit the menu had bucked up and I'd no complaints! The advantage which the Kinmel offers is that it's virtually the only country pub at least that I know of in this part of the eastern side of Dyffryn Clwyd which serves lunches each day. Most rural locals' hereabouts either don't open at lunchtime or, if they do, they don't serve meals. So when we decided today to have lunch out without going too far from home, the Kinmel was the sole option. Since our earlier visits the menu has got noticeably pricier, but in fairness it's also been noticeably enhanced. There are still some pub grub' options, but today there were a number of more out-of-the-ordinary options too. We both began with the soup of the day, broccoli and stilton, which was absolutely delicious, both in flavour and texture. And partridge, which neither of us had ever tried before, was on offer in a couple of main courses. So I went for the partridge casserole with asparagus spears and potato, while my other half chose Thai-style red partridge curry. Both totally delicious and very filling, so we had no room for a sweet! We paid £34, including drinks. Well worth it, and, as it's less than two miles from us, we'll certainly be going again."

great place to eat, the steaks and meats are from the local metzgers and homemade chips are the best round, large selection to behave and weep

we often come here because food is not yet to be disposed of. the eating is always cooked to a high standard and the steak is the best in the village. The employees are attentive and are always very welcoming. they look forward to many festive nights. through the fire thanks to james and lucy.

We had 2 excellent steaks (1 rump, 1 large sirloin) and a couple of lovely deserts. Good value. The barmaid waitress was absolutely brilliant and very attentive to the large number of customers she had to serve, both at tables and at the bar....The pub seemed packed with locals, and there was a really good atmosphere. Thoroughly recommended. The pub is dog friendly in the bar area.

Called in with some chums for a very nice pint taken in the sunny garden area. On leaving, took the empty glasses back to the bar. So far so good, then the manager/landlord came out to carpark and accused us of stealing expensive, trade mark...pint glasses. A very unpleasant exchange with someone who needs an urgent career change. By the way our group was made up of 2 retired teachers, 2 retired parole officers and a retired magistrate. We were not quilty to say the least!!

decided to eat a bit after a walk, only from the rudest owner manager bar man, whom I have ever met in 45 years, ignored us and when we were recognized, he turned to us, almost. tell, and said: “What do you want?” before he turns us the back to talk to some native ones at the bar! we went out and not to understand how this place can get such Rave reviews, he needs either to be sacked or to go into another trade, we will not recommend this place for everyone within our group of hikes, or in the did for all members of the general public, there are much more beautiful places to eat with much more friendly owners personal. Believe me, avoid.

Went for a Sunday Lunch as soon as we walked through the door we were disappointed. The bar was cluttered with old newspapers and somebody's dirty woolly hat. The service wasn't very friendly, felt as if they were wondering why we had come. Sent...into dining ro find our own table, which wasn't difficult as we were the only ones there very worried now!!. Ordered our meal starter and main course. All our questions were now answered, it was terrible, veg overcooked, meat roast very fatty and watery gravy. This place needs to really to buck their ideas up. Would never go back. One other couple arrived while we were there. Obviously this place is known by the locals who avoid it like the plague.

armed in the hope that we could have some fast pub food after a morning of exploration. when we walked in the bar, we looked very disgusting to see us, and when we asked for food, he rolled his eyes very unstoppable while continuing his phone calls. his attitude has not improved when we asked ourselves to see a menu and tried to make it as unpleasant, unwilling and as difficult as possible for us. I had never seen a person in the hospitality trade so disappointed to see customers! when we took the note and decided to leave, he complained that he could not be expected to serve us “all on himself” anyway. no apologies, just a stinking attitude. if he weren't the owner, I would recommend that h...

We booked last minute but were prepared to accept a slightly later booking time. Upon arrival we were served drinks and told that there might be a bit of a wait. We were directed through to the restaurant area which resembled a tea room. There...were two families in there seated over three tables, with around three tables free. After a while we flagged down the only person serving food to ask if we could order. He didn’t take orders so had to ask the poor young man behind the bar to do this (the only other visible member of staff). 45 mins later, we asked where our starters were. We were told they’d be another 10-15 mins bringing our total time to 1hr 15 in the pub with no food. We then deci...
