"£23.85 for two cheese scones plus cheese and chutney, two hard and dry plain scones with jam and cream and a pot of tea for two. This was between a friend and I, not each. The cheese scones were really tasty, the cheese portion sizeable and the chutney very nice but not in any way worth almost ten pounds (and tea was extra! . The plain scones were hard and dry. I did tell the waitress they were dry but no member of staff followed up on this. I was with a friend who I was supposed to be treating but I left feeling utterly, utterly ripped off and embarrassed. I understand from other reviews that they have in the past sold Dartmoor pony meat. Had I known this beforehand, I would never have set foot in the place, nor will I again."

Was a nice little restaurant but as of 5th April, it seems to have closed down. Perhaps for a refurb? Hope this is the case..

Lovely food and staff, very clean, dog friendly. The Grilled Halloumi was divine, and the pancakes and berries finished it off well. Good value and a friendly place .

what a nice place to have a light meal. subtle 'girlie' decor, we had only homemade cakes, but those were delish! avocado and courgette sponge sandwich cake. g/f and vegan.

Whenever I visit Tavistock, my go-to spot for lunch is this place! The cheese scones are top-notch and the burgers are delicious. Don't forget to grab a cake to take with you on the go! Speisekarte ansehen

Beautiful little cafe in this stunning town, great location. The staff and service are excellent as was the food. Went specifically for a cream tea, was not disappointed and can't wait to return.

Friendly staff, attractive decor and very good food. Our Croque Monsieur was even better than ones in France. All the other food we saw coming from the kitchen looked very good too. Definitely recommend a visit.

What a great little find. Was expecting coffee and cake, but the quality of the meals we had were superb. I had the salmon with crayfish tails lobster bisque. Went back the next day and had it again. Would give it 6 stars if I could. Speisekarte ansehen

I will definitely be returning to The Kitchen, it was absolutely charming. Although we were late for lunch service, there was still plenty of choice and the food was superb. The food was hot and plentiful and the coffee was excellent. The service was very friendly.

"Gidleigh Park is a country house located in a wooden wally in Devon. It is quite hard to reach the place on a very narrow road, which is very beautiful, but apparently during the winter larger cars can’t even get there. Gidleigh Park houses a two-Michelin star restaurant with Michael Caines as the main chef (the restaurant was recently voted number 1 restaurant in the UK by the Harden’s Sunday Times Food List 2014). Gidleigh Park also has bedrooms (apparently all individual in style and design) and you can stay there for the night and then wonder in the gardens of the estate, which I saw some people doing when I was there. I was visiting Devon and my boyfriend chose Gidleigh Park for lunch on a Sunday and we took the long and narrow road to Gidleigh Park. The inside of the house was very old and had a lot of charm. It had eclectic art and antiques and different style rooms, the lounge had different tables, chairs and the bar was done up in a completely different style. Gidleigh Park showcased British charm and elegance. You could chose to have their signature sample menu for £140/ person, but instead we went for the much cheaper version, their lunch set menu for £44/ person for 3 courses (you could also have 4 courses for £57). Also note choosing dishes a la carte would set you back £115, so the lunch menu seems like the cheapest way how to enjoy Gidleigh Park. We did not have any wine, but apparently thy have an amazing wine cellar. The three course lunch menu included a small appetizer, a starter and a main course and you could choose from one of the 3 starters and one of the 3 main courses. Our appetizer was “goat’s cheese foam with beetroot jelly, candied walnuts and granny smith apple”, but as my boyfriend does not like goats’ cheese he had a tuna tartar as his appetizer which actually looked better than my appetizer. I was not to"
