"we went to lunch on Saturday morning. as usual, eating was very good. I did not have too often fish and chips, but went for it and was not disappointed. the cod was huge and freshly prepared. only excellent. my other... half had the sampi and chips she thought was good. there were about other couples in the pub. presumably standard for a miserable Saturday midday. so I can't say how the things could be if very busy, but I've been here for years and it never disappointed. if they like ale, there is always a reasonable choice of the bar that was always of good quality from me."

"A lovely little country village pub. We enjoyed a very nice Friday evening dinner here, good enough to warrant the effort of writing a review. The food was first rate, and and definitely on a level above what you’d expect from a pub kitchen. The bar staff were really friendly and attentive and the atmosphere in the pub itself was warm and welcoming. Highly recommended."

"Went for meal tonight with husband and sister in law been before and was nice tonight completely different outcome. As soon as we arrived was told certain items on menu not available that was not a problem. We ordered then was told my husbands choice not aviable again ok. He then choose sausages in Yorkshire pudding with mash and veg .I choose the goats cheese tarlet. Sister in law the lasagne. When meals arrived the tartlet was onions, spinach, mushrooms,with 2 slices of goats cheese topped with a flaky pastry top like the ones you get on a pie after looking there was a soggy pastry circle learking beneath the veg carnage .I cannot explain the taste didn't have any didn't eat much. The sausage and mash small Yorkshire pudding perhaps aunt Bessie's my husband said it had no taste not even the sausages. He didn't eat much. The lasagne was lovely apparently. When asked if everything was OK and we said not really was completely ignored.again when paying we said it wasn't up to usual standard we again were ignored. We paid no trip apart from get it better and worth the money .Will not be booking again awful and food apart from lasagne not edible"

"We had a family meal here on Christmas Eve this was my first time here but came highly recommend although this must have been an off day. We arrived on time one of our party however couldn’t make it so on arrival we notified the bar staff who were all miserable definitely not in the festive spirit also the chef who was rude told us we still had to pay for their as he had already cooked it who cooks all the meals before the guests have arrived as the food would be spoilt before we get it if we were running late. I would be happier to wait a bit for my food for it to be fresh cooked I am sure others would agree. Having preordered and pre booked there looked to be enough staff on but we seemed to get left with our empty plates for sometime after finishing which is never good. The food wasn’t great just mediocre pub grub. The worst bit was half of us came down very ill that night from the food which ruined Christmas day for us not good and still not great now. I will definitely not return and not recommend this establishment to anyone."

"Dined here on the 9th of April for a Sunday lunch.. after having a great meal on our previous visit... but I have to express the meat on both plates. This visit was very disappointing, as we also noticed other diners having the same issue, the roast beef was wafer thin looked like it was taken out of some pre sealed roast meat pouches from a supermarket and the lamb shank was so slimy and tough to cut let alone chew. I witnessed an older lady seated across the room who spat the meat into some tissues as she was struggling to eat it. I hope the establishment see and take note of this as in this present climate this industry is on the brink! Please try your meats before service. A lamb shank the meat should fall off the bone, not see it glued to the bone!! And the roast beef is nice to see it has been carved off instead of thin slices that won't meet Sandwich standards. Please take pride in service and quality of food as it's not nice to see a struggling establishment taking shortcuts. We are paying guests. I don't mind paying for quality. Cutting corners, then you are liable to cutting down on service and customers as some customers don't like to complain or send food back. Take note and take pride in what you serve. If in doubt, try the food before you serve your paying customers."
