"Had five stars given if it wasn't for the condition of the rug in the whole pub it was absolutely dirty and disgusting for God's will to clean it or replaced it was terrible the food was very good the service was very good everything else was fantastic, but when you go and see that this disgusting spot torn carpet it puts people off"

This charming pub, located at the top of Kinver, offers a traditional atmosphere. Guests can enjoy excellent Bathams beers and a selection of lagers, as well as delicious food served on the premises.

"We were a midweek lunch party of 4 retirerees. Usually lunch at Crown and Sandys or Kings Arms Ombersley but fancied a change. Very disappointed indeed. Basically poor choice, small portions, long wait and no atmosphere. This huge place is beautifully appointed but there was absolutely no atmosphere on arrival and only 2 other diners on this occasion. No welcome whatsoever from the staff. We chose our table and eventually our food from the limited menu. I was told my choice which was a risotto was not available so went for next best choice which was lamb. In fact 3 of us went for the lamb and one had cod and chips. The food took an hour to appear at the table!! It was nice but nothing special. The lamb was nicely cooked but the vegetables were a joke! 4 tiny cubes of potato. 3 chunks of carrot and a tablespoon of beetroot purée plus another desert spoon of gravy jus. To make a meal you will need to order vegetables and potatoes as a side too making it a fairly expensive meal. We couldn't get out of there fast enough and decided to move on to Lord Mortons for coffee and desert. What a good choice. And what a lovely welcome from the man himself. We're going there for lunch too next time."

"We decided to drop in for a last-minute Sunday lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the efficient and friendly service. The staff quickly cleaned and set a table for us, and we were delighted by the delicious sea bass tagliatelle with crab. The entire team worked smoothly together, providing excellent food and service. Overall, we give the food and drinks an excellent rating, the service a 5, and the location a 5."

"Stayed here for a few days to visit the Cotswolds villages and relax by the river. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable...had everything we needed. The bathroom...although a little ‘tired’...was spacious and functional, especially Important when 2 women are sharing...plenty of shelving for all our ‘stuff’. Our room (no 9) had a balcony with table and chairs which overlooked the River Severn. Fabulous view to wake up to each morning and great to sit with a cuppa to watch the boats go by, bliss. We ate each evening in the restaurant, great choice, spacious room, tasty food and excellent service. There are a couple of pubs nearby (we thought we would make use of them if the food wasn’t up to much) but we did not need to, the food was delicious. We also made use of the onsite pub and enjoyed a few cocktails. We would highly recommend this super place...fabulous location, efficient friendly staff and a great price."

"I don't even know where to begin with this review! The restaurant is absolutely amazing, very welcoming and extremely friendly. The staff were helpful and polite, with smiles all around. The food was beautifully presented, delicious, and very filling. It's clear that every staff member truly cares about their job. The servers were attentive, polite, and easy to approach. The chef paid attention to every detail, and the manager was friendly and even knew some of the regulars by name, which was a nice touch. The prices were very reasonable, and I would definitely come back without hesitation. Thank you Cross Keys for a fantastic afternoon. (Time for a nap now!!!) "The staff here are absolutely fantastic, and the food is amazing. The place is clean and comfortable, so I would definitely recommend it. However, the shower wasn't great. I slept well on the first night, but an unexpected guest at the end of my bed kept me awake on the second night. Overall, I would definitely return for the great food and sleeping arrangements."
