The food was everything I had hoped for and more. Definitely worth a 5 star. Everyone was accommodating and friendly.

Gary and Lindsey who made this pub the warm, cosy and welcoming traditional English village pub every village needs are back. First meal out for my wife and I since lock down and we received a warm welcome and good food and drink.

Really lovely meal here one evening. Staff extremely friendly and went out of their way to check we were happy with everything. Food was well-priced (although sweets a little on the expensive side). Would thoroughly recommend a visit.

cozy, warm and welcoming. eating was nice, the meat was perfectly cooked. my only critique would be missing from green vegetables with the caries. red cabbage with cinnamon was not nice. not sure if others agree, but for me it is not with a frying dinner and something spoils an otherwise good traditional well cooked roast. beautiful house cooked meal with friendly staff and cook. very busy, always a good sign when we visited, but workers copied with the numbers. do not expect a super fast service because they are supplied with freshly prepared meals. that must be a real bonus. well done everything, added to the list of places to visit again when in east sussex.

The Red Lion is our favourite spot for lunch. We usually come on a Sunday, whenever we are able, and Gary's roast dinners are superb, especially the beef. The fish and chips are the best I have ever eaten, and my wife loves the fish pie. Also, the home made breads are well worth buying, we normally pick up a couple of focaccia's, especially for Christmas. Lindsey and the other girls are all very welcoming, we love it here despite having to make the trip over from Bexhill. Highly recommended.

Really delicious food in a fantastic setting. Went for the Harvey's Sussex Bitter, the best beer this side of Germany. Followed by the sausage and mash. Mash was really tasty as was the onion gravy, the vegetables that came separately were delicious as well especially once soaked in the gravy! As for the sausages themselves, these were great. You got three of them on the bed of mash, and they were big ol' things very herby and tasty. The food was extremely hearty and filling, which was almost disappointing as I wanted to have room for the chocolate brownie sundae! But alas, I'll have to save that for next time.
