"Absolutely lovely village pub. Very friendly and welcoming. We had Sunday dinners and all opted for the giant Yorkshire pudding! Now the word giant falls well short of how monstrously big these things are! Surprised they didn't have their own postcode!!! Seeing the size of these I assumed the quality must suffer. Couldn't have been more wrong! Am from Yorkshire and lived these 44 years so it's fair to say I've had many Yorkshire puddings and these are way up there with the best! So came from Yorkshire to Scotland and had better Yorkshire puddings than most back home in Yorkshire hahaha! All food was superb quality! Couldn't fault anything! Make sure you book though as it seems very popular."

Excellent customer service and great well priced food, will definitely visit again On that matter, it’s only 5 minutes off the Kirkpatrick Fleming junction of the M74, northbound and southbound

A gem of a pub, never mind the service statins on the M74. Pull off an eat here, you won’t be disappointed. Lovely food and a lovely pub friendly staff. Steak night was well worth it. Many thanks

Excellent food . Must pre book as was very busy . Food arrived in good time. We had a 10% discount card for our main meals but we only got 10% off 1 of our desserts ?? However everything was freshly cooked and very tasty

We were staying at a local Airbnb and the owner suggested this spot. We couldn't have been more happy with the food and service. The waitress was especially attentive to our needs as vegetarians. The food was beautiful. Highly recommended.

Superb food, drinks service. Good value too in my opinion. Not our first visit. Not our last. All had 3 courses. All were commented on favourably with the family. Maybe needs some guest ales craft beers? Otherwise faultless. Even the loos are spotless!

Found this by chance and what a find ! So good we went twice , once on Pie Night and then again on the Friday . Credit to the Chef the chicken and leek pie was crammed full and not a soggy bottom in sight ! Good high quality home cooked food , plenty to choose from Staff lovely , highly recommend this gem of a place . PS it’s dog friendly too

Second time having the shredded beef in the giant Yorkshire pudding, and once again it was absolutely fantastic, everything was delicious, when they say giant Yorkie, they really aren’t joking , but the quality is excellent also, and the service once again was excellent, definitely 110% without a doubt the best around for Sunday roast, will definitely be returning

The first time visiting The Station for many years. It has been updated and so lovely inside ... very light airy and decor fitting the pub with a nod to its history. Toilets were superior and spotless too! Service was excellent and staff were attentive We enjoyed our food which was delicious and very fresh. We will be back ... many times I'm sure as we are local. Highly recommend.

After moving to Dumfries 2 years ago we 've spent almost every weekend looking for the best Sunday lunch. Some establishments have been award winning and some have been hidden gems. Today we had our first visit to The Station and we 're very happy. We are very critical (between ourselves) but couldn 't find a thing to be critical of! Food was delicious, service was excellent and the large Yorkshire pudding on the shredded roast beef lunch was a meal in itself!!!! Well done to everyone at the restaurant and in the kitchen we will certainly be calling again. Thanks

"My wife found this when looking for a place for us to spend our wedding anniversary. It sounded good on paper. It was a long and tedious drive for us though and I wasn’t sure it was worth it. I was totally wrong! This place is superb and well worth any drive! The setting is great-it has its own beach and there is a small patio where you can sit and there is a heater there too if you need it. There’s a nice lawn in front of the hotel too where those with dogs took them for a walk. The rooms are all different and all well appointed with their own en suite. The costs of the rooms reflects the size of the room and not the facilities. If you are tall like me (6ft 2) I wouldn’t go for one of the rooms in the roof as the coomb ceiling is a pain. However the thing you go there for is the food and that is sublime! It is a set menu in the evening which reduces waste and helps control costs. You get 7 courses, all quite small , but at the end of the meal you are adequately fed but not full. We were there for 3 nights and had a different meal every night. All the dishes were superb but we had mushroom soup one night and it was the best soup I have ever tasted! In fact it was one of the best foods I have ever tasted! The breakfast is very good indeed and you can order whatever you like from the menu which is very comprehensive. I found that set me up for the whole day and I didn’t need a lunch. I must also mention the wine. The wine list is very comprehensive with some difficult to come by wines in it too like Chateau Musar. On 2 nights we went with the wine pairing list which I thought was very good value, especially the cheaper of the 2 lists we had every night. The hotel is a good centre for seeing things in the local area and , despite going in November we found things to occupy ourselves for the 3 days we were there. They have various themed weekends too which sound brilliant. But the hotel is so good it is worth going to anytime. We will certainly be back."
