"We booked for Sunday lunch, not just any Sunday lunch but Easter Sunday. I have previously left rave reviews about this pub, even celebrating with 30 family members for my hubby’s 50th pre lock down. However new owners have seen the menu, service, food and standards drop dramatically. The glasses were dirty, we changed them for not as dirty but still dirty glasses. The Yorkshire pudding were terrible. Burnt, hard and stodgy. The waitress spilt gravy on the table and didn’t bother coming back to clean it up. When we asked for a menu, we were informed it was on the chalk board less than a4 in size already on the table. It consisted of roast with meat or vegetarian option. Other people came in later and ordered salmon (this wasn’t made known to us). The food was edible, just. Sadly we won’t be returning, despite preferring to support local."

"The restaurant is lovely, light and airy with plenty to look at. The food is excellent. I had the watermelon and feta salad my husband the broccoli soup. Both were excellent. For seconds I had the pork belly my husband fish and chips. We thought a whale had landed the piece of fish was that large. Again beautifully cooked. Desert was delicious, chocolate brownie, strawberry cheese cake and salted caramel cake. Yum. Only complaint is the menu on the website is totally different to the menu we were given. Hence why my husband ended up with posh fish and chips. However, this didn't really detract from a very nice meal."

"Went there for the first time with several other members of the blue knights law enforcement motorcycle club. Had Sunday breakfast. It was delicious, no grease on the plate, you could tell the eggs were fresh, sausages not cheap nasty but I reckon home made and service was outstanding , felt like we had our own waitresses . This as a club all agreed will be a regular stop and eating hole . Thankyou red dog . Highly recommended. Parking: Gravel car park couple pot holes which in a car isn't a problem. Slight hazard for bikers though but ok Service: Dine in Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: £1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: English Breakfast, Full English Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options: Free parking lot"

"Firstly I’ll start by saying the pub interior itself is nice, as is the tabled area out the front. There is a good selection of beers on tap. We didn’t stay for food so I can’t comment. The reason we walked to the pub is because we have a dog and it markets itself as dog friendly. The reason I’m writing this review though is because the garden out the back is an absolute disgrace. It is overgrown and absolutely covered in dog poo (hundreds of it everywhere so much so my dog was overwhelmed and left cowering in the corner). This is meant to be a dog friendly pub dog friendly doesn’t just mean you are happy to have dogs on the premises. It should mean that you take pride in providing a safe haven for dogs and this is absolutely shocking. You can tell a lot about the owners of a pub when they allow this sort of thing to happen and can’t be arsed to sort it out. This could be, this should be a nice pub. We won’t be coming back any time soon."

"my fiancée and I had a great meal last night. Although I lived in his village, I had never been. we were greeted nicely at our arrival and our moms were suspended. we had a drink at the bar while we decided our choices from the great selection of menus. while we did, we got kanapés and chose some olives. I had the scallops and lobster pana cotta to begin what was divine. but I had been eating envy over my other half squid. we both had a middle cure of soft shell-cab, as recommended by my engaged as it is one of its favorites. I then had the ochsenwange as my main thing. I had never tasted that before and it was just divine. tender and super tasty. my other half chose the thun fish steak that was cooked for perfection. we shared a cheeseboard to finish. the service was impeccable. the personal was attentive, but not overwhelmed. it was a joy to see them patiently in the wings waiting to speak if they could be of service, and not only to hide in the bar on their phones. I can't blame our culinary experience at all and look forward to many more places when we eat here. well done and thanks x"
