Good place for a coffee or tea with a snack . Pleasant surroundings in the museum, reasonably priced, friendly staff. Basic but good.

Lovely place to go on a chilly afternoon .Had tea and scones served by friendly lady in Victorian long apron .Very reasonably priced too !

The menu is limited, and the service is slow. The small area gets very hot. They only offer soup, sandwiches, toasties, and cake; there are no cooked meals. I was glad to see that the tables were wiped down every time, but it was also slow to clear them. Speisekarte ansehen

Called in here for coffee. No one explained that the coffee beans for my gasped-for cup were still in Brazil and in their unroasted state. Service was painfully slow and there seems to be little if any method and organisation in the process of ordering and delivering to table. Avoid.

Revisited this lovely cafe again, been loads of times. This time I had coffee and cake (I'd recommend the chocolate one)! Excellent service from the girls. Blonde lady with short hair extremely friendly and made my visit enjoyable. I'll be back soon, for my usual thank you Victorian pantry!!

Stopped for lunch after visiting the museum. We had fresh sandwiches and beautiful chocolate cake with good hot drinks. The staff were meticulous about cleaning and sanitising tables between customers. We were able to sit by an open window so felt safe and comfortable at all times. Friendly and prompt service. Victorian pantry above museum South Shields I would have completely missed this gem were it not for the street signs. What a great find, upstairs over the museum. Wonderfully tasty fresh cakes, scones and sandwiches in charming surrounds with warm friendly staff. Bring a magazine, or a pal and step away from the Main Street hustle bustle and enjoy.

Located within a small museum and art gallery, this tearoom offers a pleasant setting with staff in costume serving tea, coffee, cakes, and savouries at affordable prices. We enjoyed a bottomless pot of tea before indulging in slices of delicious chocolate cake topped with a drizzle of chocolate, and carrot cake. A relaxing spot to take a break and treat yourself.

This restaurant is a hidden gem! We were so happy to have found this lovely little tea room. The homemade food and cakes were absolutely delicious. The prices are incredibly affordable for such high quality. We felt for the staff as their dishwasher had broken down and they were struggling to keep up, but they still managed to do so with a smile on their faces. We will definitely be returning! P.S.
