"We only discovered this fantastic restaurant thanks to a tradesman at the holiday complex we were staying at. Located on a side street in the village of Tideford, it is not well signposted. But now that the word is spreading, make sure you visit and sample the freshest and most delicious seafood you can imagine. Upon arrival, my wife and I were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. The friendly bar staff quickly took our drink orders. The menu, offering seafood, meats, and vegetarian options, may not be extensive, but the quality of the dishes is superb based on our experience. Following a recommendation from another guest, I tried the seafood gumbo. This smoky, soup-like dish was packed with king prawns, crab, lobster, and haddock, accompanied by a slice of rustic bread. My wife ordered the haddock and chips, which she found to be the best fish she had ever tasted. For seafood enthusiasts, a visit to Tideford to discover this charming and welcoming pub is a must. You will not be disappointed by this hidden gem of a place with its old-world charm."

"This restaurant is our neighborhood favorite. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming to families and dogs. They have a good selection of drinks. The food has been a bit hit or miss for us. We loved the desserts, but the main dishes were more inconsistent. The sausage and mash was delicious, but it lacked vegetables. My partner had a seafood dish that she thought was off and couldn't eat. I don't eat fish, so I can't comment on that. The owners are open to feedback and seem dedicated to improving the restaurant. Overall, we believe it has a lot of potential and we look forward to seeing it continue to improve. It's off to a strong start!"

"canonize over this pub when they return from day trip to home and so glad that we have entered. very friendly place at the river lynher with many sitting opportunities both in and outside the doors. beautiful selection of beer/drinks and really friendly staff. the best is eating that during the traditional pub duve is everything made home and really delicious."

"Looking at reviews, I wonder if we’re talking about the same place? Maybe it was chef’s day off! We thought we’d treat ourselves to lunch out and the Manor House was recommended. It was so disappointing. We’d read the menu online and I’d already selected...what I wanted: panko squid rings and scallop dish of the day. This was encouraging as it suggested somewhere that offers a sophisticated choice. But when we got there neither of those things appeared on the menu. It turned out to be ok but a fairly basic burger and stuff from freezer to over to plate. I could have bought my scampi peas and chips from Iceland and cooked them at home much cheaper. There was nothing else on the menu I fancied. My message to the proprietor is to either put your current menu on your website so that people know the choice or to say that it is subject to variation and to ring to find out. Really spoiled my day. I was expecting a special meal but there was nothing special about frozen scampi and frozen peas"

"A large party of my family went for Sunday lunch to celebrate our daughter's birthday. Just two negative points. Most of my family have said about their disappointment in their roast dinners. The roast potatoes were terrible. There were too many on a plate and instead of this more greens would be amazing. The potatoes were too hard, it was difficult to get your fork into the very hard surface of the spud and the inners had a tiny bit of potato. It would be brilliant if they could either do homemade roast potatoes or buy some good quality frozen ones. Also, can they do something different with the Yorkshire puddings. Most of my family had a negative comment about the roast potatoes. I hate complaining but my message may help them. I really like the Weary Friar, it's a fabulous place!"
