"A wonderful sunny day, the first for a long time, so a good opportunity to try the Trattoria San Salvatore. It commands lovely views over Lake Maggiore from it's garden terrace, but sadly the food is very basic and lacking in inspiration. A meat platter for starters was fresh and tasty, a mushroom rissotto was OK, but polenta and stew to follow was all a bit top heavy, and reminded me of a boy scouts outing!..We tried this restaurant 3 years ago and the menu hasn't changed...please please a bit more variety please, for the sake of that wonderful view!"

Ristorante molto bello, abbiamo mangiato nei tavoli fuori dal bastione. Il menu non è molto vario ma comunque ha piatti interessanti. Il personale è molto gentile.

il nostro obiettivo era fare una passeggiata e un ottimo pranzo. Siamo riusciti a fare entrambe le cose, ma il pranzo era davvero fantastico. prezzo contenuto, solo poche scelte ma tutto da provare.

con antipasti di degotazione del menu euro che solo quelli erano abbastanza x saziarti primi: risotto con funghi e linguine al cinghiale diversi tipi di carne in salsiccia bagnata, coniglio, bruscit e stufato tutti accompagnati con polenta. acqua di vino e caffè a scelta dolce. This is one of the best views of Lake Maggiore, and several other lakes around Varese. The restaurant has typical local food of good quality (antipasti, polenta with various meats). It is simple and you must try to seat outdoors to enjoy the incredible panorama. Prices vs quality and the view are really worth a trip (spring, summer and early fall).

Walked up nearly 1,700 feet from Lesa in the steaming heat and it was well worth it. The food was simple, fresh on the day no set menus and limited choice, but excellent. But the view is something else. The staff were very welcoming, no pretensions and attentive without being annoying...in other words classic Italian restaurant staff. Good value for money with entertaining regulars to keep the smile the view and food brought to your face going for quite a while. Well worth the calf muscle pain and I would definitely recommend.
