I tried the vegetarian chili and it was absolutely delicious! The staff was very friendly and the tea was delicious. Just like Simon and Garfunkel said, I'll definitely be coming back!

Excellent choice for a hot soup to lighten up a cold and dizzy day! Very good choices, natural and cheap! A nice place to refill your batteries to continue visiting this beautiful city.

It was so good to see that this fabulous little place on Forrest Road has survived the pandemic and is as good as ever. The fact that we visited three times in four days says all that is needed! Superb.

We love soup and salad for lunch and this small place was incredible! Wonderful selections and the crusty bread/butter accompaniment was delicious! We had tomato basil soup and chicken chili and shared a vegan salad bowl of goodness! Great place to stop for lunch with friendly staff!

Honestly can’t rave about this place enough. I visited for the second time this Summer. I’m a huge soup fan and the choices were just phenomenal. However, the golden chilli chicken was genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. If I could, I’d be at U of G everyday. They have an ever-changing offering of delicious and unusual soups, chillis and home-baked bread. Everything is tasty, filling and makes you feel good! The best take out place in the Forest Road/ George V Bridge area. There is some limited seating so if you get there early enough, you can dine in and chat to the lovely staff.

I discovered this restaurant based on the number of people inside and the delicious smell of freshly cooked chili. We ordered the Vegetarian Chili and Minestrone soup, both of which were delicious. It seemed like many customers were regulars coming in for takeout. While the restaurant may not be fancy, it is perfect for delicious and wholesome food. I recommend arriving early to avoid them running out of popular menu items!

Union of Genius has a short but ever changing menu offering really unusual and tasty soups, home made bread, salads and the staples, chilli chicken and vegan chilli. It is quite literally the best vegan chilli in Edinburgh bit like dying and floating to heaven on a tortilla. I even wrote to them and asked for the recipe and they gave me it, but when I tried to re create it, it was nowhere near as good. If you need healthy, soul warming food, you won’t be disappointed. There are a limited number of seats so if you’re lucky you can get one, otherwise it’s take out. Did I mention that the staff are lovely too? Speisekarte ansehen
