"My wife is always craving for Chinese food on the road, as she does not like western style cooking. Being thrift-minded travelers, we always frown upon the expensive yet poorly cooked food in many of the Chinese restaurants we visited. This is especially the case in Europe, the menu items are expensive but not well cooked to a Chinese palate, even they still carry the same dish names. We had similar disappointments during the first couple of days dining near the hotel (Best Western), until we ran into this one situated a few steps further away from Gran Via, near Plaza Santo Domingo. Just 5.5 euro an item gave us satisfaction of both decent taste and savings. It is a no frill place, so do not expect too much, but the food and price will make you happy. Highly recommended. Also we learned something that we need to explore further: joints with name of Wok usually fall into same style:, small, greasy, offering little service, mostly for takeout (good sign: orders piled up waiting for pickup, cook frantically stir-fries a mixture in the pan and the wife or daughter deftly working on phone and walk-in customers). Chaotic but foods are good, generous portion, and more importantly, cheap!"
