"In the beginning, God created many things from Monday to Saturday and on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. Or did he? No. No he didn’t. On the seventh day God created Bennys. This biblical reference does not do justice to just how divine a Bennys is. It is a kebab/pizza/fast food shop steeped in glory and mystery. Some scholars have actually considered Bennys as the final resting place of both the ark of the covenant and the Lance of the Longinus. If Dan Brown has written another book, I have no doubt Bennys would have featured because the food is so good. I have been to Bennys three times a holy trinity of visits. Each time I have opted for a seminal chicken kebab. The chicken has been fresh and plump and proper (a bird sacrificed for the grace of our plates). The spices have oozed with flavour, cleansing my very soul. The pitta has been strong and resolute in its carrying of the other constituent items of perfection. The salad has been clean, cutting through the spice, to reclaim the innocence of my tastebuds for another spiritual bite. The hot sauce has teased my palate (and my perineum) with a fiery wet heat of a culinary miracle. The chips have been a hybrid of soft and crispy, like a kettle chip which has had an illegitimate child with a cloud. And the garlic mayonnaise, oh yes the garlic mayonnaise, embodies the fulcrum of the holy trinity of God. I believe in a church. The church of Bennys. It is wholesome, it is great, it guides me to the green pastures of hope, away from the barren epoch of servitude you get with other late night food venues. Benny was the 13th apostle and he founded his church here in Ashbourne. I once saw a drunk 19 year old get hit by a 2013 Renault Twingo outside of Bennys. Was he hurt? Was he maimed? No, a beam of alabaster white light transcending mind and soul came out of Bennys as it happened. He walked again. It’s not my place to say, but if that accident had happened anywhere else, I don’t think he would have lived. To me, Bennys is more than a kebab shop. Maj and the boys run one hell of an establishment. Just like Derbyshire was home to the Arkwright mills and the birthplace of the industrial revolution, it is home to Bennys my church. While the Arkwright Mills had consequences for the direction of mankind, so too, to a far greater extent, does Bennys. Fun fact: just down the road from Ashbourne is Belper where Timothy Dalton grew up."

We always go for the Southern fried chicken chips with mild chilli sauce. Would eat this rather than a KFC any day. Can’t fault the place it’s quality. Speisekarte ansehen

the best food in Ashbourne the workers and owner are so nice and welcoming I would recommend you to get the cheesy chips with popcorn chicken and bbq sauce because it is the best

Kebabs are packed with flavour, clearly much higher quality meat used compared to other places. Pizzas are lovely and everything is reasonably prices. Service is excellent and the owner will always stop for a chat.

The southern fried chicken is amazing and a lot better in my opinion than The Colonels. Burgers are top notch and the pizzas are excellent, Not pretty to look at but delicious food throughout and I’ve visited many many times. Speisekarte ansehen

Busy Bank holiday Monday, lots of places closed in Ashbourne, 2 hungry kids. We came across Benny’s! Best takeaway been too in ages! Very nice smiley welcome! Very Delicious food! Very efficient to say he was the only one working there from what we could see. Great prices! Highly recommend! Should open up a chain! Benny’s is a great name!

Got stranded in Ashbourne for 14 hours in a broken down bmw (photo as proof! , when it was evident the RAC weren't coming any time soon we walked down to Bennys and had quite frankly one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten! As a vegetarian you're pretty goosed for takeaway food so cheese pizza has to be top notch to earn a review and this absolutely was. Did ask about halloumi kebabs but sadly no joy at 10:45pm on a Tuesday night but was seriously blown away by what we could have! If you happen to read this mate, much appreciated, you turned a terrible day into a very passable evening!
