"the food was excellent, but the waiter could have been more friendly. we all ordered our from the Indian menu and eating was as good as I tasted everywhere, and better than most. the restaurant is well decorated and we are a great location to see over the harbour. our only easier handle was our waiter. while he did everything right, brought water when we asked, etc. he seemed to do it grudgingly. the more he did, the more we praised and thanked him. Maybe he had a bad day, but a bit if positive interaction goes away a long time."

"Gorgeous little place, loved the 50s music and the decor but the food was just so greasy, it made me feel sick! As I say, I might have been unlucky.... My husband had potato skins and a chickpea burger and said it was very good. I would return and try something different! Or maybe even just hold out for the sticky toffee pudding option!"

"Came here as saw they had an extensive gluten free menu and wasn 't disappointed! I had three course chicken wings, chicken burger and then small sundae. Staff were extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. Only a couple of gripes on the menu it says the burger comes with coleslaw but when it came, it didn 't have any so I asked and the waitress said 'oh yeah, not anymore. ' So I paid extra for coleslaw. This is disappointing and menus should be updated to reflect this. Same with my dessert, it said it would come with a cadburys flake, and again, no flake. The gluten free menu was great for starters and mains but the desserts are really lacking, I noticed Eton mess on the main dessert menu which wasn 't on the GF menu which I thought was really strange as this is usually naturally gluten fre! Would definitely be back."

"I usually enjoy Costa cafes, but this particular one was terrible. The staff were rude, the place was dirty and disorganized. Even outside the cafe was filthy. It seems that Costa doesn't take pride in their surroundings. I regret not noticing the warning signs of the exterior before going in. An older woman who served us was visibly annoyed when I looked at the drinks menu, she shouted at me aggressively and asked what I wanted. Another staff member pushed my husband out of the way to refill the merchandise counter, it was incredibly rude. I wonder who trained these individuals? Currently, the cafe is empty with the staff huddled up chatting and relaxing, completely ignoring the dirty tables full of dirty trays. Shame on you Costa! The Montrose branch has turned me off Costa completely. I think I'll try my luck at Starbucks in the future."

"Was here for an early high tea (4 adults and 2 under 5s). Friendly service, answered any queries we had and were good with the children. The food was good. Wish we had known re portion sizes and gone for the smaller portions as there was too much food. The meals were lovely, chicken Marland, stake ale pie and the enormous salad. The kids' meals were good as well. We received a bowl of chips to share rather than on the plates. There must have been enough chips for 3 tables of people as it was massive and a lot of it wasted. We asked for the children's ice cream early as they were getting board, this was slow in coming and when it did arrive we had to ask for the empty plates to be removed to make space for the ice creams. Staff were slow to clear the table and bring out the dessert. We asked for the cakes in a box to take away as we had all eaten too much and waited too long at the table. Prices were reasonable for a high tea , although I thought it expensive for the under 5s. Low score due to the time taken to clear away empty plates when we finished the main course.
