Starter tasty sausage meat but lacking in the black pudding, main not what I expected, found a half of a roasted garlic bulb in the bottom of the fish pie, all they done was take of a pint and half of shandy. Service: 4 Location: 4 Speisekarte ansehen

We dined here twice during our narrowboat trip this week. The burger we had on Saturday was fantastic, and the steak on Wednesday was excellent. As a Texan, I can confidently say that the burger might be the best I've ever eaten! When I requested a second pot of tea, I received a big one instead of another small cup. The staff can be a bit slow if you're in a hurry, but when the narrowboat arrives, the young waitstaff are very friendly and take just the right amount of time.

During our travels, we decided to take a detour for lunch after reading positive reviews on Google, and we were not let down. The menu offered a wide variety of interesting options, including smaller plates for those looking for lighter meals, all expertly cooked and served with a smile by our attentive host. The location is fantastic, nestled between a canal and a couple of railway lines, with charming railway memorabilia decorating the walls inside. We truly enjoyed our experience! We happened on this pub while on a long car journey, set close to the bridge over the Oxford Canal, close to Aynho. There's a good sized car park and inside it's modern country style decor. Very friendly staff and clearly popular with locals. We only stopped for a beer and a coffee, but the food offering looked good, and it was a surprise to see they also had accommodation. Lovely clean, Modern and comfortable rooms. Plenty of hot drink options , nice to see hot chocolate sachets as not many places provide these anymore! Nice atmosphere in the pub, lots of selection for drinks and food! The burger and duck chips was absolutely amazing, definitely one of the best burgers I have ever had. Staff are really welcoming and are happy to help with anything. Nice big car park suitable for our van also! I was travelling by the Great Western Arms, with my son, when our car was crippled by a puncture; we had to wait for the RAC and, subsequently, a tow truck and waited the the Pub car park for some time. Well before the pub officially opened, members of staff invited us inside so that we could keep warm. They provided coffee and orange juice free of charge and allowed us to sit in front of their fire. Once the pub was open we ordered food, but just as the food was ready, the tow truck arrived. This is intended as a neutral, purely factual review. Good points the one meal we had during our 2 day stay was excellent and the room was basic but comfortable. Bad points closed for meals on Sunday evening even for residents, closed all day Wednesday and no cooked breakfast until 10am on any day. We were on a boating trip on the Oxford Canal, needing a room and meals on the Sunday and Tuesday evenings in that location, where there’s nowhere else to stay. Some things had gone wrong during our stay and we appreciated being offered in compensation wine and desserts free of charge with our evening meal on the Tuesday.
