"What a little find!! Four of us all met up here this morning for a catch up. Coffees and teas were lovely. And how great to have my tea served in a teapot that doesn't leak all over the saucer table!! Staff were very happy snd friendly. We had three pieces of cake and one croissant. No one was disappointed and my Victoria Sponge slice was massive, delicious and very quickly demolished. Thr smell of breakfast was very enticing but, due to other commitments, we had to leave. But we will be back to sample some breakfasts. Thoroughly recommended."

"Staying locally in a cottage, most decent local restaurants closed on Tuesday (and Methuen Arms had a leak in the kitchen). Decided to have a takeaway despite mixed reviews. There was plenty of food, we had the mixed starter for 2. The spring rolls were enormous but tasteless, the prawn toast stodgy and bland, the ribs were in a tasteless gravy, not much meat and fatty. For main courses we had Singapore spicy rice, there was loads, but it smelt and tasted of Chinese curry powder. The king po pork was very fatty and greasy, with tasteless veg. The szechuan chicken was, once again very bland, and not much chicken evident. A waste of £40, but it was Chinese New Year today, perhaps the chef was on holiday!"

"worst eating experience possible!. order from the menu only to say, both main courses were not available and so was the starter!. decided on another pornstar, but we do not wish. a chicken and savory cake with potato masque and baptized was actually a shepards cake, but with huh and no lauch! served with bark meat! Flavour engraving!.a beetroot wellington was a hard crusty bake not much bigger than a rock cake with barely filling and served with dry chip wedge and an salat garnish! unnecessary to say with what was served feel demolished for what we paid, what a bad and substandard meal!. not we back!."

"As an add dendum I did not stay in the rooms but the 5 stars is for food. We had a new year's eve lunch here. Every single dish was excellent. All made perfectly and tasted delicious. They do a range of food types from amazing burgers to haute cuisine type dishes. We had fish cake and cured trout for starters. Both amazing. My eldest (5 1/2) ate 2 portions of fish goujons. My youngest (2) ate all of hers. Wine very good, food and service amazing. I also want to take a moment to say how amazing, caring and attentive Maya our waitress was. I was quite demanding (a knock on effect from kids) but she listened and responded to every question and request perfectly. I couldn't ask for more from a server. Thank you so much Maya."

"We've often eaten here and had excellent food and service. Until this week. We booked for lunch and our waitress organised drinks very promptly before taking our order. I asked for scampi with a salad, avoiding chips and we also asked for garlic bread to share. When our food arrived, I had scampi and chips with a bowl of salad and no sign of the garlic bread. The waitress suddenly realised I hadn't ordered chips but I said that was OK as my husband would eat them. Despite reminding her about the garlic bread, it never arrived. Our waitress was quiet and efficient, and busy with new arrivals as the restaurant began to fill. We eventually decided it was pointless asking about the garlic bread and finished the meal with tiramisu. The bill duly arrived and in the absence of garlic bread, she offered to take off the service charge. We decided, as the majority of the meal had been fine, to ask for only half of it to be deducted. I think my main problem was with the manager. Although he was there, he didn't deal with any of this problem. He seemed to be fine with going around the tables and chatting to regular customers, but in the matter of the missing garlic bread and the chips I had not ordered, he left the waitress to deal with the problem and didn't even look at us when we left. In many places we have eaten, the manager will normally speak to customers and not leave his staff to face an unhappy diner. Popular eateries don't only rely on their food, their service is just as important, and unfortunately it felt as if no one really cared. Sadly we've eaten our last meal there and won't be coming back."
