King Alfred - Speisekarte

Fantastic location just recently refurbished to a high standard. Excellent rooms and for exceptionally clean. Definitely stay there again.

Been to 4 Fizzy Fridays here. The food is always lovely, and well worth the £15 per head. The cooked meats are fabulous. I can recommend the Eton Mess! Service is always good.

Lunch with friend, had the roast beef bagutte the chicken skewers large portion sizes and very tasty. All social distancing measures in place, one way system tables spread out, staff explained seating arrangements procedures, all exceptional service. Speisekarte ansehen

Visited here last night for a meal food and service were excellent.Chose the crab and avocado to start with followed by the slow roasted belly pork and the chocolate fondant to finish will definitely eat there again. The staff were extremely efficient and friendly.

Been To the King Alfred about 4/5 for food it’s the best on the island by a long way if you get starters,mains,deserts you won’t be disappointed with any the service and attention to detail on food is second to none all great fine ales and wines to help your food go down are A* as well

This hotel on Walney Island is rather out of the centre of Barrow but has very nice updated rooms in good decorative order. The breakfast could do with moving a bit upmarket with wholemeal bread, sugar free cereal and marmalade or jam but the portions were massive. There was a little late noise from the pub downstairs but no noise from other rooms and zero traffic noise. Speisekarte ansehen

Excellent Sunday lunch in the king Alf. Tables are well spaced out and everyone following the covid rules including a one way system. The staff are extreamly professional and this is evident soon as you arrive. My wife had roast beef with all the trimmings and I had a 14oz gammon steak with fluffy home made chunky chips. The onion rings are superb too. Both meals were very good with huge portions so this is worth bearing in mind if you order a starter.

We hadn’t been here for a while and heard there had been changes of chef. Sunday lunch, unfortunately mussels were off the menu, mushrooms were tasty enough, prawn cocktail was poor, tasted like Tesco value prawns, small and watery. We all had roast beef, the meat gravy and Yorkshire puds were good, vegetables over cooked and roast potatoes quite peculiar, absolutely rock hard and crisp to say the least, perhaps heated up in a deep fat fryer? Other meals coming out of the kitchen looked good and there are some tasty sounding options on the main menu, maybe try again on a different day.

On a visit to my son who lives on Walney island Barrow he had booked a table for us all On arrival we were shown to our table there’s a good selection on menu and good choice of beers and wine by glass or bottle I decided on a steak my son same both steaks were done to perfection if I were to be picky the only thing I didn’t care for was that meal came with potato wedges rather than french fry’s but having said that everything else was spot on The staff were very friendly and helpful nothing to much trouble we would certainly return to this great venue so if your in the area give it a visit but remember you must book well in advance Speisekarte ansehen
