charming and friendly neighbourhood restaurant. warm and welcoming ambiente; tasty and inexpensive eating; friendly, generous staff. in the did not to blame! sue (and friends).

la bonne heure is a family-run French restaurant that was first founded in paris and opened a second restaurant in london due to its success and popularity. the intimate local bistro, with clock-theme-decor is located on the 31 abbeville road. we decided not to book in advance as it is januar and, well, quite honestly, it had not been too busy in the evenings earlier in the week. we had the wrong impression when they were almost fully booked! we had luck getting the last table for two, just before half the 7 rush, when others were diners turned away. type number 1 – book.

I've been to La Bonne Heure a couple of times and I really enjoyed the ambience and food of this restaurant. It is situated in the Abbeville area of Clapham which in itself is something of a wealthy enclave not known to many outsiders. The food was excellent, however i must say that I found the head waiter a little bit surly. I think this is a Parisian thing, which won't necessarily go down well with Londoners, who expect some degree of politeness from waiting staff. restaurant with breakfast always! the service was awfully slow. manager was rude. drinks we wanted were not available. sisters starter was late in comparison to the other of us and was frozen and missing brioche and harbour jelly. the duck of my mother was cooked when we asked to do it well. my steak should be done well, sent it back to be attacked again and forget it! I did nothing! disgusting! They then had the wange to load the green beans that came with my steak, that I could not eat, of course, as no steak had with it! and to finish it, accused them for the service! I'll never go in there again, was shocking!

I seem to be going to a lot of restaurants with character and ambience lately. This time we did go to have a good time with our friends who were moving back to Spain. A restaurant decorated with clocks of different shapes and sizes could either remind you of the good time you spent there, or how slow time moves in bad company! However the food ensured that our time was well spent. My lobster was delicately spiced and millefeuille of crab, avocado and tomato fresh and appetizing. A good way to order at La Bonne Heure if you are with friends and you like sharing desserts and starters is to order Les Formules Starter+ Mains and Mains +Dessert each.
