"My wife and I went the other night and had a terrific time! Even having the masks/visors on, the personnel in Belfast gave us a really warm greeting. It was a dining out to help our night, and we were happy to be escorted to our table right away. The meal was great, with a menu that was diverse and innovative. It's the greatest Irish food I've ever had. To completely comply with COVID-19 criteria, there were enough of hand sanitisers and table dividers. We felt quite safe and will return."

This small restaurant is a hidden gem. Despite its unassuming exterior, The Laterne offers delicious food, excellent wine, and a warm and welcoming staff in a cozy atmosphere.

I visited the restaurant tonight and will definitely be returning soon! The service was great, with attentive and welcoming staff, followed by delicious food. There was an excellent selection on the pre-theater menu, and it was definitely worth it. Looking forward to my next visit!

Warm welcome from the owner of this small restaurant. House wine was Spanish red and was good. We had excellent fresh sea bass and the sirloin steak was quality and cooked perfectly. To round it off we had home made sweets which were also really good. We had a lovely evening and are delighted to score 5*. Recommended.

We went here midweek which may explain why the restaurant was virtually empty. The food was excellent, if a little expensive, the service was good but being empty there was no real atmosphere. We've eaten in similarly empty restaurants before and not noticed this lack...but for some reason it didn't click here. Maybe at the weekend it would be a different story, but you speak as you find

if they are served perfectly on the search for traditional art, then the laterne definitiw is worth a trip. I had the duck and it was served with the most delicious orange berry sauce. my man ordered chips as side and they were so delicious. desserts were also fab. the owner/manager was very attentive and so friendly. all in all, a brilliant evening and very cheap in the city center of belfast

I think a lot of people may miss this place, but it's a wee gem. If locals go then you know it's a good place. The food was great and good portions. The owner? visits the tables in between courses and chats, which is quite unique these days and makes you feel appreciated that you have chosen the Lantern. A lovely touch to see complimentary drinks offered which is so unusual theses days. I would certainly recommend.

The Lantern is a relatively small bistro with delicious food. Each dish was perfectly cooked and the flavors were delightful. The staff was friendly and the chef clearly knows what he is doing. Having lived in Chicago for many years and dined at several renowned restaurants, I can say that The Lantern is just as good, if not better, than the best of them. If you find yourself in Belfast, do yourself a favor and book a table at The Lantern. I will definitely be back in the city next time.
