"Fantastic service from the Devonshire Arms! From booking to eating the whole experience was first class. We booked a table for 10 for my sons 17th birthday. I was sent confirmation and the preorder document within 5 minutes of my call. We added another guest too at no extra trouble. Staff were friendly on arrival and extended impeccable service throughout the night. The food!! Exceptional. So tasty and you could tell the menu was considered and everything had been cooked with care. Steak was cooked to perfection. Compliments to the chef! Everything else ordered was fresh and piping hot. Portion sizes gave more than moneys worth, even the kids menu didn’t leave my 9yo niece hungry! We had a range of starters, mains with sides and desserts and everything was outstanding. A bit off the beaten track but definitely a hidden gem that’s worth the drive! To all the staff, thanks for a memorable evening! We will be sure to return!"

"Wow, I'm reading these negative reviews in shock because my experience the twice I've been couldn't be more different. The staff from the moment we stepped in were very attentive and friendly, they couldn't do better. Drinks and food arrived in very good time compared to many places. The food itself is fabulous, everything me or my companions have had has been 1st class, for starters the soup is excellent, tasty and thick not the watery garbage I see elsewhere. But the scallops, deep fried brie and prawn crayfish cocktail all got a hearty thumbs up. The main event of course is the steaks, well the sirloin, fillet and t-bone have been fabulous, best I've had anywhere around here. Sides are equally good, the large cut chips, sweet potato fries, and rosemary herb potatoes are all excellent. I'm afraid I can't comment on deserts, we've never had room for one. All in all I couldn't fault the entire experience!"

"yesterday we had the most amazing time with my friends baby shower that I helped organize with another friend. I couldn't recommend this place enough....from the beginning, it was really easy for us (I was completely unclear about party planning) gave us many possibilities and ideas. the personal was so attentive, we had provided gluten-free and vegan options, they helped us build up (big thanks josh for the balloon help eating was delicious and so much of it, the extensive coffee menu (in my opinion) is the best in the chest field and the attention to detail (edikatblooms in the mimosas, always our mother to a small card) was all just exceptional and enormously over. I can't wait to plan another party here! becki, emma and alice xx"

"My husband called in here one Sunday for a lite bite. The place was busy but we managed to get a table and I thought it had quite a nice ‘feel’ to the place, although the wooden table needed a good clean as it felt...sticky! After looking at the menu I went to the counter to be served by someone who looked like she didn’t want to be there, I ordered my food and drinks, she put the drinks on a tray, told me how much, I payed and left with no ‘thank you’ from her or any conversation at all. I got the feeling that they were very short staffed as there seemed to be one serving and one in the kitchen. I had to wait quite a long time for my bagel and when the girl brought it, again in her very unfriendly manner, I was surprised to find that it wasn’t toasted which could be just me but I’ve never had a I toasted bagel before. Anyway it tasted ok but then I found out the a quarter of the bread was so stale that I had to leave it. I decided to just leave, to have complained would have been a nightmare as the staff were so busy. I hope that this was an unusual case, but I have discovered that the place is up for sale so maybe the owners have just lost any interest in the place. I would be reluctant to visit again which is a shame being the only vegetarian and vegan cafe in chesterfield."
