"This is in essence a good characterful restaurant in an old building with good food and drink. On the evening we were there it was not full as it was after New Year, but the service was a little strange and disjointed. The person who served us was just helping out so he tended to have to refer queries, but he was cheerful and pleasant in himself. The Manager seemed to range from attentive to disinterested to the point that he didn't even thank us for pointing out to him that he had missed half our drinks off the bill. The menu though, which was very fish-based, was fine and we enjoyed the food. Worth a visit."

We had the most delicious food, freshly prepared and delightfully presented. The team were friendly, funny and professional. All six of us said we'd definitely visit again.

After a walk along the costal path, I couldn’t wish for anywhere better to stop for a bite to eat, a cold drink and great atmosphere. The Mote is sat right on the edge of the harbour and serves amazing seafood and drink Speisekarte ansehen

Had a superb lunch here. The host couldn 't have been friendlier or more welcoming (even our two dogs got biscuits), the food was delicious we opted for the banana blossom 'fish ' and chips and the building itself is amazing. Well worth a visit. The other diners seemed very happy too!

we stumbled over this restaurant on a sunny Saturday, as we had gone for the day of dartmoor. it didn't disappoint! the interieur is beautiful and we were immediately greeted by two friendly staff. eating was incredible with so many local products, staff were attentive and friendly and we have already booked to return at the end of the month!

We managed to get a space at the Mote and I'm so glad we went. The food was delicious and fresh me and my partner have dined in many fine restaurants but ill have to say this place left us speeches. The flavours, portion sizes and services were superb. Thank you for making our anniversary so memorable the staff member leo had such great service manners. Will definitely be back if we ever have the chance to come back to this beautiful town. Speisekarte ansehen

two of us went to dinner with the dog. I expected more of a pub variety, but was pleasantly surprised with how beautiful it is inside. we ordered starter and net, go for seafood for both of course. the portions were very generous and we let the feeling stuffed. id very recommend the cadjau with harissa kartoffel, it was great, the fish cake was also large and filled with fish! the personal was also welcoming and friendly, so they would try.

"We have been bringing the kids here for years a special meal out in a fantastic spot. But sadly, this year may be our last. As recently as 2 years ago you could get 'tapas ' style small plates from £6 £9 each, this year we were a little shocked to find the cheapest plate (a modest serving of cured mackerel) priced at £13, with most small plates at the £17 mark. In the past we have also enjoyed the large plates, most of which were priced from £16 £18. Currently, they are priced at £70, £75 and £130 perhaps the portions are larger than previous years, we did not order any. The food is of course delicious, but on the whole, the small plates did not feel quite as varied nor satisfying compared to previous menus. The BBQ puffed bread was dry, the sticky ginger crab was disappointing compared to other fresher crab dishes, the Octopus not as memorable as previous years. It would have been nice to have been offered the option of some bread or rice to go with all the Panang Curry sauce leftover. The pork belly (the only meat option on the menu other than the £130 surf and turf) was possibly the dish that disappointed the most. We tried all of the small plates and enjoyed the Prawn Panang, Red Mullet Tartare and the Cauliflower Kung Pao. £270 for a family of 6 with a few soft drinks and no desserts. With Nathan Outlaw 's up the road perhaps they feel the need to set the menu and prices in order to compete. But may well price out some families from enjoying this special spot."
