"recently there was a lot of new Vietnamese restaurants in london: viet food in soho, fold on brick lane and yum som in the city that I wanted to visit soon. When I saw all Vietnamese dishes on my Twitter timeline, I decided to pay a visit to my old local restaurants around holborn banh mi bay. at this opportunity we had not much luck with my friend, because banh mi bay was already full. instead we went on the clerkenwell road (3 minutes away) to ngon ngon. we arrived at 1.30 ngon ngon was absolutely packed, but we managed to get the last empty table. while we ordered, we were informed that unfortunately they had sold completely out of the banh mi. my friend was a little disappointed. we started our meal by sharing a few crooks, pork and rugged spring rolls. they were very light, crispy and full of taste. I liked the fact that they had thrown in, as there was an additional textur to the usual classic garnels and pork rolls that they get anywhere else. as a main dish, my friend had the pho tai, which was reisnudeln in a clear bark broth with slender rare cuts of the bark. it came with some chili, lime and crawl on the side. I tried his dish, the broth was packed in taste (even without crimped and seasoned) the bark was also really delicious and not chewing at all. I had fried flat noodles with huh (pho xao ga). it came with some crispy vegetables: carrot, pak choi, courgette and crispy on top. I thought the court was pretty good, and also had the perfect balance of meat, steal and vegetables. I remember banh mi bay the portions are in the usually somewhat larger, but they end up with more noodles than meat or vegetables."
