"The Thai food at this pub was surprisingly delicious. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time as seating is limited. The beef pa nang curry had a great spicy kick and was very tasty. The lunchtime deal of a main and a pint for £11 was a great value. It was a nice change to see an alcohol-free beer on tap. The service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. Overall, a great choice for a lunchtime meal with prices ranging from £10-20 per person."

"for a family celebration. eating was nice as it was always. we were removed in a room from other diners, which meant that we could speak as a large group among us without disturbing other smaller groups. many thanks to the cook and the management for their really thoughtful approach to nutrition needs zb gluten-free. it was a great choice, each court could be tweet, that was especially beautiful when it desserts. I never felt like I was limited in my choice and the alternatives I was given was very good."

"Excellent Sunday roast here. Beef cooked perfectly to our liking rare and pink in the middle, tender and extremely tasty. Great accompaniments and superb Yorkshire pud. Very busy on the Sunday we were there obviously popular and justifiably so based on what we ate. Pistachio souffle is one of the best souffles anywhere and is consistently good. Service is efficient and attentive without feeling overbearing extra veg and gravy are always freely offered. 2 and 3 course options available to save on the individual course prices."

"I have visited this restaurant many times over the years and I have noticed a decline in both the quality of the food and service in the last year. I understand that Sundays can be busy, but during our last visit we had to wait for our reserved table. The waitress seemed overwhelmed. The roast beef we ordered was very disappointing for the price of £26. The portions were small and the meat was not up to standard. There are much better places along the high street to enjoy a roast in my opinion. It is a shame because this restaurant used to be a favorite of mine."

"We received a warm welcome and decided to order the Sampi and the fish and chips from the extensive menu. It was a nice touch that they offer half portions, as sometimes you don’t want a large meal in the middle of the day, but we ultimately opted for the full portions! When the food arrived, I initially thought the Sampi portion seemed a bit small, but everything was well-cooked, including the chips, which were beautifully crisp and tasted fresh, not overcooked. The person with me ordered the fish and chips, which were a decent portion featuring a lovely thin batter and crispy chips. She chose to go with the "inherited" option instead of the "muddy heirs" that she would like to replace. One small detail I appreciated was the use of a ketchup bottle rather than the tiny packets that are often found in pubs nowadays. Overall, I would highly recommend this pub. It’s a beautiful old building full of character, with a warm welcome and great pub food. There is also a pub garden at the back for outdoor dining."
