"The food here is fabulous. The place is only let down by the service. My 3 stars are for the chef and their team in the kitchen. We had a seafood platter to start which had some amazing tastes. The best thing on that platter being the smoked mackerel pate. For mains I had the lamb burger with goats cheese and my husband had the pie of the day (chicken and tarragon) both bursting with flavour and beautifully cooked. All the food eaten was excellent value for money. The decor here is quirky love the bottle covered ceiling. Seating is nicely arranged. This place should be getting 5 stars every time if it were not for the staff serving. Numerous times we had to try and get the attention of the numerous young ladies serving. They were so busy chatting that we would have to go to the bar to pay as none of them were looking up to notice numerous people putting their hands up to get service. The room too was getting quite cold before we left. I thought it was the large gap under the fire exit near our table, but it would turn out to be the door to the beer garden that was wide open that was making everyone near it put on their coats (luckily we were sat quite a way from it). If the staff had been paying attention they would surely have closed the door. Some staff training would go a long way in this restaurant. I’m sure ourselves and others would have spent a lot more on drinks and food if we’d been able to get served and had the place been warm enough with the simple closure of a door."

"We have met friends here for lunch a number of times, but this wasn’t our best experience unfortunately. Our table was in a smallish room with low ceiling and families with small children already there not their fault, but the noise level was uncomfortable. Starters were good, but three of us chose beef for the main course and it was poor— very tough and hard to cut, with a lot of fat and gristle. Our waitress was very helpful and reported this to the Manager and then came back to say that we would be given 50% of the cost of the beef meals. That seemed fair, but we’d have preferred to have been able to eat and enjoy it."

"We were really looking forward to a home made traditional Sunday roast. Unfortunately we did not get that. We had a bit of a wait which was fine, then we were told no Yorkshire puddings left so we were OK with that. When the food came, it was tinned carrots, runner beans, frozen cauliflower, the roast potatoes were lovely and then there was the beef. I've never had such chewy beef in my life to the point I didn't eat it and what I did chew ended up in my napkin. The waitress asked if the food was OK, I said the beef was really chewy, had no feedback from that. Its a lovely pub but as far as food will not be returning for any."

"I read the reviews online and decided to stop by one afternoon with my wife. The staff were lovely, and the atmosphere and decor perfectly matched the pub's character. They had a great selection of drinks, and the camp I tried was delightful! I ordered the fish and chips, which were the best I've ever had in a pub! The mushy peas were incredibly flavorful, with a unique taste of swede and garlic. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to family and friends!"

"We recently visited a restaurant that is now called "The Ounce", possibly because it specializes in serving steak by the ounce. The menu is predominantly focused on steak, which I do not eat. However, there were a few other options such as vegetarian, baked salmon, and pork belly. I opted for the fish dish, which was very good. One of my companions enjoyed the pork belly, describing it as delicious, while the other two had the steak and thought it was great. Despite arriving on a Tuesday at 5pm without a reservation, we were fortunate enough to secure a table right away, although we were only able to stay until 7pm. The Ounce, also known as The Dolphin, is a popular spot, so I would recommend making a reservation to avoid any disappointment."
