"Have been to packhorse previously, and have always enjoyed Sunday lunch there. However I can only guess it has changed hands/ management and chef. The dinning experience was positively average at best- food varies from over cooked meat to undercooked vegetables. Such a shame to have seen such a nice restaurant let it’s standards slip so far. Certainly will not be going back and could not possibly recommend it to anybody Conor"

"After a long drive back from Frome we called in to see the daughter on the way home.......She took us to the Wellington for a drink.....We was starving hungry and was just gong to grab a Macky D after a drink so glad we didn't...... FANTASTIC tasty food all 3 of us had the stake deal sirloin or rib eye with all the trimmings and a pud for £18 and there's plenty of it real GOOD portions All cooked to perfection just how I and my daughter like it well well cooked and my partners rare ...Real nice chips and onion rings and tasty as peppercorn sauce and lots of it .......Partner had Stilton sauce which she loved The 3 puds also fantastic where M&M cheesecake, Eaton mess and I had the banana split ...YUMMY AS Nice out side seating area and the staff where fantastic , extremely busy....rushed off there feet working real hard BUT it was still service with a smile on there face, polite and real helpful nothing was to much trouble..... GREAT SERVICE, GREAT FOOD we will 100% be back when we visit the daughter again ."

"Can’t recommend this lovely country pub/restaurant enough. Owner chef Dean always delivers on quality and the service is friendly and attentive. The menu is varied and something for everyone. Slightly more expensive then some, but you get what you pay for . good food/service and pleasant setting. Pity not open Sundays and Mondays, but they need to recharge . Best to book to avoid disappointment."

"My husband and I were extremely disappointed with the afternoon tea we received at Bedford Lodge. Our daughter had purchased it as a Father's Day gift for my husband, but it turned out to be a major letdown. The atmosphere at the restaurant was stylish, but the food was lacking in quality. The sandwiches were dry and I even had a piece of bread on one of mine. The scones were burnt and overcooked, making them almost inedible. The cakes all tasted the same as they used the same cream for all of them. One particular coconut profiterole had runny cream and was not enjoyable. We were seated in an inconvenient location near the staff work station and corridor, making it a distracting dining experience. The addition of a £5.30 service charge seemed unnecessary, especially since the restaurant was not busy. Overall, our previous experiences at Bedford Lodge were positive, but our recent visit was disappointing. I would not recommend their afternoon tea and will not be returning in the future."
