Warm and friendly environment for a good steak. All the right ingredients in all the right quantities. No hesitation in recommending.

Lovely little pub. We attended my cousins 25th Wedding Anniversary here. Staff really friendly with great memory for drinks ordered. Plenty of parking.

I couldn't choose between the sirloin steak and the steak and ale pie, so I opted for the torte and boy was I pleasantly surprised! This dish offered the best of both worlds, with generous portions of tender steak in a rich, flavorful sauce. The side of chips rounded out this hearty meal perfectly. We have eaten twice at the Comet; a classic Sunday beef roast for me, and for my partner a bespoke vegetarian lunch, the latter accompanied by specifically prepared vegetarian gravy and a plate of leeks in a delicious cheese sauce. On both occasions the waitress...could not have been more helpful and attentive...plus the ale was excellent. Prices are good and the portions are stomach enhancing.

Stumbled across this absolute gem with the wife on Saturday afternoon while visiting family, and it was so good that we took my Dad back on Sunday! Incredible welcome, top class hospitality from Cathy, gorgeous surroundings and to top it off, the food over both...days was absolutely devine. A proper pub in a fabulous setting, run by fantastic people. We will be frequent vistors here for the foreseeable future.

what makes pub food in good pub food? good quality ingredients, well thought-out menu of the food eating dishes, and friendly service. the steak and ale pee contained generous pieces of meat, which disintegrate on the touch of a fork. excellent! also good pint of...Ludlow bitter to wash it. we liked it so much that we came back to lunch the next day. but one thing: make sure they know where they go from the road, it doesn't look like a pub!
