"We visited the pub twice during our stay in Porthmadog. Visit I booked months ahead knowing that August would be busy so we were disappointed to be offered a table in, what I would class as, the poorest area of the dining areas.. the room at the front of the pub. We were a party of and the table was for It wasn't cleaned and ready even in these covid times the chairs were all over the place and it was made up of two tables which were uneven and weren't lined up together even though we only needed one of the tables for the of us. There appeared to be table reservations notes on tables but our name was not on the table we were offered. I looked around the pub and found a table with no note on it and asked if we could move to that table. The staff explained that the table system was in disarray and to ignore the notes on the tables. They agreed that we could move tables. The food was great very generous portions, hot and good service. Visit we called in to try to sit in the beer garden at and were told that it was closed. The pub was virtually empty and the staff seemed happy to turn away our business as they did not offer that we could sit in the pub which was quite empty. Overall the staff were not very welcoming, all requests seemed like an inconvenience to them and I got the feeling that they were not bothered about custom surprising given the lean times they must have had during covid. They seemed like they were working to an early closing/tidy up/emptying the pub time."

It is very nice to be able to post an almost 100% positive review . We had the pleasure of staying here for 2 nights eating 2 evening meals and 2 breakfasts . We really couldn't fault the food or the service and the overall efficiency was very good . Our only slight negative was the room size tho we did book the basic room and are aware larger are available) and the bed was not very comfortable to our taste . The room decor however was very nice and we would have no hesitation to rebook again .

I went for a meal and had the BBQ pork ribs and chocolate brownie for dessert. The pork was nicely cooked, but the BBQ sauce needed more flavour. Plenty of food on the plate though. The Brownie was nice and gooey, very nice chocolate with...ice-cream. It was slightly on the small side, but with the large main I didn't have room for anything more : They have a huge stone chimney fireplace but an awful looking electric fire which really looks out of place. Otherwise it's a nice looking pub. Service was very quick and the staff friendly.

Would highly recommend to others! We stayed overnight for my husbands birthday after visiting Portmerion. From the start the lovely front of house staff member looked after us. We had room 5 which was small but very nice double room which had everything you could need. The balloon wine as requested was in the room, nothing asked was a problem. Our evening meal was fabulous, large portions, well cooked and presented. The waiting staff were very attentive and couldn’t do enough, even while it was busy with staff shortages. Overall a great weekend away with the sun shining too Speisekarte ansehen

Four us went to eat tonight and really impressed with the interior of the restaurant and the staff where all very helpful and polite.unfortunately the menu pricing is a little off the mark. The pate isn’t home made but the price of it would make...you think it was the same with the Stilton burger which had very little Stilton on it was just a mass produced burger, for the price I feel should have been all freshly made. Two others in the party had prawn cocktail one had steak and the other had the fish and chips and both enjoyed it. I won’t be returning which is quite sad because there aren’t a lot of places to eat around Porthmadog area. Sorry just to expensive for what we had.

Nice little place but it's overpriced for what it is. Paying for a burger I would have expected something exceptional. Don't get me wrong, it was nice enough but nothing exceptional about it. In addition, burger sauce was served in MCDs type of paper...tub! My partner had a steak and it came with chips, onion rings and salad. No usual mushrooms, tomatoes etc. There are no portion sizes on the menu for pizzas nor steak. The waitress was not able to tell what size steak to expect. Pretty basic and boring menu. For the prices that beers are being charged at I would have liked to see more choice of local craft beers and ciders. It was a nice enough meal in a nice place but would not visit again.

it is a quiet night in tremadog, I am grateful for the warm welcome of the golden fleece. my first visit for 30 years. Oh, wow has changed. the extensive renovations and changes are wonderful and it is a bit quirky on a good wise. wait the staff. good, friendly and friendly. the local brewery on the night was purple moose glaslyn a light hoppy bitter brewed with water from snowdonia. there was an extensive, but not confusing bilingual menu that promoted local products and a special menu. eating was exceptional and served on time. can't blame it. garlic mushrooms to start and salmon served on a risotto bed with a Hollandaise sauce and beside salad. I won't let it go so long before my next vis... Speisekarte ansehen

This is the visit to The Fleece in the past year or so, it's well worth the trip to sample the food and the area. This time we were staying in Porthmadog and wanted to have a good meal, so the Fleece was the...place to go. You always get a friendly welcome and although the majority of the staff are young, they all had a smile on thier faces and worked hard in meeting the customers needs. I had the Chicken Goujons, the wife had the Prawn Cocktail, following by the Chicken in a cheese sauce and I had a medium Steak with Peppercorn sauce, both cooked to perfection. We both shared the Lemon Meringue for dessert, we were both full. The ting that my wife and I like is the high standard of food and...

We had an early evening meal at we had booked a head and the restaurant was empty when we arrived. So we were slightly disappointed to be sat right by the men’s toilet! We arrived early and were advised we can order but the...kitchen doesn’t start till so we had drinks. Staff were very welcoming, aside from what appeared to be a more experienced member of the team who wasn't very friendly. The food was lovely, my girls both ate everything, my steak was really good and we all loved the chips!! My husband was under whelmed with the steak and ale pie as he felt it had come out of the freezer instead of being home made. Like everywhere now you definitely need to book a table otherwise you will b...
