"First time visit to the Five Bells, upon arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff who couldn’t have done more for us throughout the evening. The background music was good and the right volume but that’s kind of where the atmosphere stopped, the lack of personal touch in the decor was a bit sad. Our starter was fantastic, although it took a while to arrive. Then another long wait ensued for the mains, admittedly a lot of tables came in at the same time so I guess the kitchen was over-run but not sure that should be happening in a smaller establishment. When the mains did arrive they were nice but didn’t blow us away. All in all seemed to be missing a star flavour, having said this the food was all cooked very well and presentation was good. All in all a bit of a shame, we might return but only if we have a couple of hours to kill."

"We ordered chicken biriyani. Which was not even biriyani it was more like chicken pulave and it was so trash no flavour at all and the portion was also small. I have been in India so I know what is Indian food. Then we ordered nan it was more like tandoori roti. I don't think they know Indian food. Then we ordered butter chicken (I ate butter chicken from lots of different restaurants in india) they don't know the first thing about butter chicken it is mainly made out of cashew nut and the butter chicken they gave didn't have cashew nuts and normally butter chicken is not sweet but the butter chicken they gave me was sweet. Personally I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anybody. The worst Indian restaurant I have been to. Very expensive for such trash food."

"Went in for lunch with my wife Friendly service, comfortable. I had a smoked salmon, cream cheese and rocket leaf sandwich on local granary bread which came with a good leafy salad. The sandwich was huge and well made. My wife had the quiche of the day, which went down well and she couldn't finish it, which is fine. We thought the tea wasn't strong enough but I guess it's a question of personal taste. I wouldn't say it was cheap: over £25. Parking: Car park was at the other end of the main street. Quite walkable. Parking was cheap at £1.10 per hour. Needed coins!"

"Great local pub, serving traditional pub food, quality ingredients, and well presented/served. The staff are all really nice and attentive, service is quick with no fuss. My only issue was the desert menu! I wanted every single one and could only choose 2 (the Mrs wouldn't let me have 1 of each) I'll just have to keep going so I can try every one! "I did sent the Chinese a email as thought it was decent to see if they wished to comment back on my review but have heard nothing back. Tonight we ordered about £40 worth of food, which was 2 main dishes a rice and a noodle, and 2 sides. I’ve been to other Chinese’s which were a lot better and were at least £10-£15 cheaper. This one was really disappointing. I had the kung po chicken, special rice and seaweed out of the order and the chicken dish was so salty it was all I could taste and so had no more than 1-2 mouthfuls. My partner had the duck in black bean sauce and again it was overly salty this too was barely touched after the first mouthful. The rice, and noodles were fine. As a result we hardly touched our food and after paying out close to £40 I feel really dissatisfied. I have had a takeaway from here before and it was fine and I see this as a one off but this doesn’t take away the feeling of being out of pocket for something I feel was unsatisfactory. I know everywhere has to increase prices but just would expect something at least slightly worth my money. Unfortunately will not be returning"
