"We arrived at 8pm and initially I did wonder whether the pub was closed for the night. The pub was empty apart from our group of 4 and I and another 4 small groups. I have never seen anything like it on a Saturday night at prime time. The feeling of emptiness was exacerbated by the fact that it is such a huge venue. A selection of dishes were not available, including the steak and ale pie, kebabs, pizzas and sea bass. The service was periodic, and apart from bringing us our dishes the staff were not particularly attentive. They were pleasant and friendly and I sensed they were trying their hardest to make the best of what must have been a difficult and embarrassing situation for themselves. I ordered the 8 oz steak, and it was a poor quality cut. Overall the food was OK, but no better than one would expect from a Beefeater Harvester and not from a pub that should be leading with its food offering. And to finish off the evening no hot drinks were available either. No coffee, tea or hot chocolate, with the explanation that the machine broke during the week and they were waiting for it to be repaired. The explanation that it was spitting out smelly orange liquid was not what we needed to hear in the circumstances. You might ask why we didn't make a complaint to the staff there and then. To be honest, we chose not to do so because it wouldn't have been right to do so in this circumstance. I say that because it was clear the staff last night were trying their best, and the issues we experienced were likely to be as a consequence of wider management issues within the Marston's group. The staff looking after us last night could clearly do with some training, and I would suggest that someone from your regional management needs to give them support. Saturday night should be your biggest trading night of the week and it was clear that people are now voting with their feed and taking their business elsewhere. Times are tough for the hospitality industry at the moment which means venues need to go the extra mile to capture and retain customers and I do hope that you are able to turn around your situation at the White Hard. Edit 10 11 23 in reply to the owner. No you haven't sent me a response to the message I sent you via email, and I have checked."

Unfortunately due to the venue being a chef down there were quite a number of menu options not available. From the car park it was not clear exactly where the restaurant entrance was needs more signage. Food was very good. Staff very friendly

We dined at the White Hart for dinner. The food was decent and the service was a bit slow. There were a few items forgotten which resulted in us eating at different times. The setting was nice and we would consider returning for a drink. The price per person was £30-40. Overall, we rated the food a 3, the service a 3, and the atmosphere a 5.

We booked a table of 15 for my birthday, we preordered ahead and all the food was served promptly and to a fantastic standard. We appreciated how hard it is to serve a large table and paying for our food was a breeze. We wouldn't hesitate to book again or to recommend to others Price per person: £30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Sunday Roast Speisekarte ansehen

This is my second time visiting this restaurant, and both times I have been turned away because they are not accepting walk-in customers due to low staffing levels. This is disappointing, especially since I made the effort to support a local business. I have also noticed that they offer discount days but do not have enough staff to handle the increased demand. Overall, the service rating is 1 out of 5.

The food at this restaurant is fantastic, all home-cooked, and the staff is lovely. Our family lives in Kent and we met halfway in Windsor for a family meal. We were impressed by the look of the pub online, booked a table, and were not disappointed. We highly recommend it. The only downside was that the ladies' toilets smelled of drains, but that was a minor issue. The price per person is £40-50 and the food gets a rating of 5 out of 5.

"Popped in here a month ago to see what the place was like... Peaceful and cosy, there are lots of little knick knacks to look at and some are even for sale! We were made to feel welcome from the moment we stepped through the door to the moment we left. Overwhelmed by the choice of cakes on offer on the counter, I wished to try the afternoon tea, so we had to forego the beautiful creations for the three tiers of delights brought out on the stand. It was so delicious, I immediately booked for a table of 10 to celebrate my Mother 's 80th birthday. This fell last week, and we had the perfect afternoon with high tea for all. After glasses of non alcoholic prosecco for all, we were served the freshest, most well filled sandwiches (salmon and cream cheese, perfectly seasoned egg mayonnaise, and cream cheese, cucumber and chive ; just baked scones with cream and proper strawberry jam (not, as my Mum pointed out, red jam, but strawberry jam like they used to make, where you can actually taste the berries! ; and a selection of cakes, macarons, mini eclairs, and sherry glasses of a fruity mousse, topped with fresh fruit and gold lustre. The crowning glory was a cake so fresh it refused to stay in one slice as my Mum tried to portion it! (Please note, this was purchased/arranged as an extra. The tea was hot and plentiful and was refreshed over and over. The two gentlemen who man the shop are the sweetest most friendly chaps ever. As others have mentioned, they are both deaf, but this doesn 't hinder anything indeed I even made sure I leaned a few key words in BSL, which I 've loved and I was taught a few more whilst I was there as well. Everyone said it 's an absolute gem and I believe everyone has plans to return. I will definitely be going back, as I want to try more of those cakes!! Thank you for making a very special day absolutely perfect. An absolute credit to the village and surrounding area! <3 x"

"Went for a lovely Sunday morning walk ahead of lunch at the Barley Mow, following a circular route which starts and ends in the pub car park. By the time we got back, the car park was full so do book ahead. Anyway, onto lunch itself. As always, the staff at the Barley Mow gave us a warm welcome and were very attentive. We had booked a table for 5, so it was a little disappointing to be squeezed onto a table for four with an extra seat. There is a wide choice of roasts including Sirloin beef, stuffed pork and duo of lamb. I went for the beef which was delicious with a huge Yorkshire pudding on the side. Plenty of veg too including a creamy cauliflower cheese and braised red cabbage which was amazing. Despite being quite full, we decided to go for dessert, but these were a bit of a let down after how good the main courses were. In fairness, the chocolate brownie did look very nice but the deconstructed lemon cheesecake was a disappointment. Served in a fluted brass cocktail glass, it was over half full of crushed ginger nut biscuits with only a tiny layer of creamy lemon topping. This made it surprisingly dry. And the bread and butter pudding was unlike any I've seen before (and not in a good way). The bread was thick and dry, absorbing none of the custard which looked to be more your standard yellow powdered variety, so acting more like a sandwich filling. The staff were very apologetic though and did agree it looked somewhat unusual so refunded that dessert. I would still definitely come back on the strength of the roasts though, but perhaps skip pudding!"
