"Booked for lunch, great Sunday roast again but had a couple of big groups in which is fine but staff seemed to pay more attention to the large groups rather than all guests. We go often as local but didn’t once get spoken to once after meal served and after waiting for over 30 minutes from finishing meal still no waiting staff to clear away dishes or offer dessert menu despite the waiting staff checking on the big group of diners so got up and paid and left. More attention needs to be paid to all customers however small the group."

"Walked in by accident as we were a bit peckish and liked one of the specials advertised in the window. What an absolute find ! The special of lamb neck medallions cooked perfectly pink was just gorgeous, lovingly placed on a bed of salad and a thick slice of toasted bread, cooked by the team that morning. The rest of the menu was fantastic a mix of traditional breakfast for the early comers and a super menu of campfire classics (I had the smoked haddock), sandwiches, fresh hash brown mix ups and bowl of mash based mix ups, all with local Dorset produce and washed down with some locally roasted coffee. This is all cooked with love and good cheer in full view by the manager, who told me he has been at this site for 10 years. We had a good chat about food and our likes and dislikes. I loved his approach sticking with good combinations of familiar local ingredients with the odd twist. The rest of his serving team was friendly and efficient and there was a real banter going on the sort that is experienced only in happy places of work. Absolutely a must visit if you are hungry. So, if you thought you never had a reason to go to Blandford Forum, you do now."

"I’ve had the misfortune of two successive meals at this hotel, entertaining visiting friends and family, and embarrassingly on both occasions the meat was completely inedible and was returned to the kitchen. Vegetables were underdone and the plate/food generally was far from hot. I for one certainly won’t be returning any time soon which is a shame as the atmosphere/decor suggested a better experience."

"I came in here on Coronation Day as not many places still open or serving breakfast. Ordered food then whilst waiting read the recent reviews, so was dreading my breakfast. Service was friendly and helpful. Coffee was excellent. Inclusive breakfast was quick and hot. Yes agree the mushrooms were tinned and sausage not premium quality. But bacon and egg and rest of breakfast excellent. Definitely not a one star cafe, and fully deserves my 4 star rating. One star dropped only for quality of mushroom and sausage. But good value and excellent service."

"Update on stay here Tues 7th, 10 days on: excellent!! Very good . Many thanks. Nice coffee food kind friendly warm pleasant service. And from good young staff working kindly and well seems to me, each doing. Good team get on ways, kindly doing, persevering so too. (The toilet could do with bit of an update and whoever cleans it being more sharp on the ball to make it all sweet spick and span... like the rest of the lovely place is..! This is my beliefs and review of here. And will hope to come back more. Visited it 7 years ago on a stay. Still going strong. ! That says something. Appreciated by locals community too very much it seems. Friendly to all, welcoming spirit way too, it seems, I find. Thank you. On my stay here very nice to find, again anew. Very good! Much appreciated of a Sunday morning such polite service even if young staff not just quite so sharply with it, learning the good ropes. But all very polite and in the patient atmosphere we all need. And maybe a bit more so 2020s just now. Very good much enjoyed: coffee bacon sandwich and very tasty warmed croissant with jam. Tasty food and a nice coffee and tea. Thank!! you."
