"Such a shame as we have ordered here a lot over the last few years. I will never order from here again. The food turned up 45 minutes late and was cold when it arrived. The chips were damp and inedible everything else had to be placed in the mircowave which made it bearable at best. The driver does not understand English or simple directions. He kept telling me he was outside when he was not. Several attempts left me feeling frustrated and hungry and when it did arrive due to a neighbouring house having enough about them to phone us from his phone actually physically directed him to our house. Bitterly disappointed But was willing to give them another chance. They have refused me a full refund so I have made a complaint to just eat who have given me a part refund. I will never order from here again and suggest anyone should stay away. Absolutely awful customer service and literally no response for their utterly appalling drivers and cold food."

"So sad. I had high expectations having read the reviews but it was one of the worst Indian's I've ever eaten in my life. I'll keep this brief. Food turned up lukewarm, not terrible as I'm happy to pop in the microwave. The mint sauce was a disgusting luminous green, tasted of the smell of cif lemon household cleaner. I've never in nearly 50 years had a mint sauce this artificially coloured, it was luminous bright green. The onion bahjis just tasted of salt no natural flavour or sweetness from onions. There was no fresh herbs, flavours felt like they came from all the same base sauce and not a good one. Naan was wet and flavourless. After trying I threw it all in the bin. Please tell me there's a better indian nearby as this is not what i'm used to."

"I went for a Christmas lunch at this restaurant today and I have to say I was very disappointed. The turkey dish consisted of one small sausage wrapped in slightly burnt bacon, one roast potato, a small sliver of soggy parsnip, and some mashed potato. It was served swimming in gravy with a side of unseasoned cabbage, carrots, broccoli, chunks of swede, and sprouts. There was no Yorkshire pudding and the gravy was poured all over the plate, which I personally did not like. The Christmas pudding I had for dessert was served with a brandy white sauce that was also poured over it. The worst part of the experience was that my Aunt and I were seated in an area of the restaurant that seemed to be hosting a funeral meal, which felt inappropriate given the festive season. We had drinks, wine, tea, and coffee along with the meal, and the bill came to around £60. Overall, I felt it was very poor value for money and left feeling like we could have had a better meal at a supermarket cafe for half the price."

"We booked a table for 4 people (at 1pm) for Thursday 29th December. I have to admit, apart from the fish on the plates, (chips weren’t good) it must have been our worst experience at The Thorn Tree. I don’t know if you have a new owner/manager or staff but none of the “happy staff” that we have been used to we’re working yesterday. There was one young man that from what we could see, was only just managing to cope. He was literally running the bar/orders/seeting and serving single handed. This guy was doing great, to say that he had no help on the outside of the kitchen. The chips were certainly the worst we have ever been served. Lots of tiny pointed chips and quite a few chips were green fleshed. We would usually have stayed for desserts but the whole restaurant was “uncomfortably cold”. We understand that heating and energy prices have increased dramatically but myself and many others, are not prepared to pay good money, to sit and eat/drink in an uncomfortably cold restaurant. I would have certainly left this review on TripAdvisor but I have been told in the past “our TripAdvisor account has been compromised by a former employee”. So I’m not sure that there is much point, apart from sharing my opinions with others. In the past, I have always recommended and highly rated The Thorn Tree but no more"

"I had a wonderful meal here with my family, which included a total of nine people, along with a small child. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived until the end of our meal. The food was served quickly, piping hot, and all at once. The portions were generous and satisfying. We also enjoyed a beautifully presented dessert that was a good size. My partner had the squash pudding, which came with plenty of crispy toppings—definitely not a tiny portion! Overall, it was excellent value for money. I was genuinely impressed and will definitely return."
