"The wind was whistling through the narrow streets of Kayserberg. We walked in and were greeted by a courteous lady and led to a table on the level above the main floor. Menus were distributed. On the sound system the BeeGees were singing " Stayin' Alive" , a bowl of steaming soup along with crusty bread was being served. Does it get any better than this? For main course my wife had a schnitzel in a cream sauce while I had pig knuckle with sauerkraut. A pitcher of Alsatian Pinot Gris accompanied our lunch. Both dishes were very good. The bartender was happy to talk to some Texans and he told us of a special attachment to this area of Alsace and Texas."

Located in this beautiful village that really deserves a stop, the restaurant offers a nice room dowstairs, ( but not so nice upstairs). Service is friendly (we speak french ) and the tarte flambees and desserts are lovely!! They also offer other alsacian specialities that looked very apetizing. Lots of locals go there and prices are fair too.

The restaurant is a business like set up with little room for decoration, having all the menu's on large schoolboards on the walls, between mirrors. The food and the service are good. The false fillet was as good as any real fillet. In the Covid time they checked the QR-codes. We were at 18:00 hrs just in time as later all the tables were booked.

Very friendly greeting for Les Anglais in packed restaurant on both evenings we visited .You have to book to ensure a table as they were turning people away ,always a good sign as is the fact that there were obviosly a large number of local regulars .Food is typically Alsacian and well cooked and staff are great .Lots of competition in town but this place is one not to miss.

"L'Alchemille is a 1 star Michelin restaurant located in the Alsatian village of Kaysersberg. The menu here is a surprise, you just get to choose between 5, 7 or 9 course. The chef will gives what what he wants, what's fresh that time in his garden, and what he feels like cooking. I like the element of surprise so it wasn't an issue. Before you're asked if there are any ingredients you don't eat, or if you have any allergies,Service is good, not so much fluent in English but in a way or another you get to communicate. Wine list is good and includes wines for everyone's budget, somellier is more towards selling expensive wines, but he knows his job.Dinner kicked off with a bottle of Cremant,a nicely presented amouse bouche and fresh bread, It then followed with a variety of dishes which included potato mousse, beef tomato with basil snow. deer tartare, salmon, mustard zabaion, pigeon leg, munster and 2 desserts. The star of the night was the beef tomato with herbs and basil snow, followed by the pigeon with glazed peas, carrot puree and pigeon juice. To finish off we were given some petit fours, not bad but it can be improved. We later had a chat with chef Jerome Jaegle who surely has a passion for what he does, and no wonder he was awarded a Michelin star, his creativity on a daily basis is something few can do and maintain such a standard.Total came to around €130 including mid priced wine, 9 course is reasonably priced at €78.If you're in the area, it's a place you'd love to visit. I'll be back."
