"We found the restaurant as we were heading out of the Resistance Museum otherwise, I do not not think it would be on a tourist's radar. It caters to locals and was very popular. We arrived for a late lunch and felt fortunate that we could get one of the few tables in this cozy, small restaurant. No English menus (a good sign) but our waiter spoke perfect English. We opted for the 17.5 Euro menu which included a soup, plat du jour and dessert. The soup was the most delicious cream of mushroom soup we have ever tasted. It was so chock full of mushrooms you could almost eat it with a fork. There were a fish and a beef option for the entree. We ordered the fish but was disappointed that the waiter came back a few minutes later and said they were out. We were not surprised as it sounded as if it was wonderful! We did not want beef, so the chef was kind enough to offer to substitute salmon. Unfortunately, I don't think the smoked salmon that was delivered went well with the rest of the plate, as a whole. Each individual item was very good, and they were trying to please us so we did not say anything. I chose the lemon tart and my husband had the warm molten chocolate cake - - both fabulous! I would encourage you to try this little friendly restaurant, but do it early before they run out of the specials."

Fantastic little gastronomic jewel in the heart of Lyon. The menu options were all top notch and meals freshly prepared. Very reasonable portions and great value. Excellent service, no less. Very recommended.

We had the €17 lunch option which was explained to us patiently by our waiter(Richard?). We had an entree of artichokes with salad and cheese, mains of duck and fish and desserts, lemon/lime tart and chocolate fondant. All were delicious and very generous portion sizes. This is a narrow restaurant with seating also in a small courtyard at the back. The service is efficient and very friendly, the value is excellent and above all, every dish was delicious. We rounded the meal out with a carafe of very pleasant white wine and a couple of coffees.

We rented an apartment next to the restaurant. Richard gave us the key. He seemed very friendly so we decided to have lunch in his restaurant. He showed us to an inner courtyard dining area - which was quiet and sheltered from the wind. My wife had the steak - large and tender, cooked just right. I had the cold fish in a turine. Lot' s of interesting spices and peppers. Each dish came with a small salad and French fries. 31.5 euro for the two. And we were eating late: some of the other meals being prepared smelled just wonderful but were no longer available by the time we could order.

"My wife and I dined here on a Saturday night (having made a reservation several days in advance), and it was one of the best dining experiences we have had in France in a long time. We reserved for the early seating, showed up on time, and were among the first customers there. We had a small table near the door. The disadvantage is that we were occasionally wafted by a cold draft from the front door. The bigger advantage was that we were sitting near the restaurant's beautiful, precision, hand-operated meat slicer. The specialty starter is beef that has been cured for seven months with seven spices. It is sliced paper thin (and that is no exaggeration) and served heaped on a plate. Heavenly. My wife and I ordered only one of these plates and it was more than ample for the two of us.That was followed by our starters. I ordered the minestrone marocain légèrement épicé comme à Tanger (Moroccan minestrone, lightly spiced as in Tangiers), and my wife the rillettes de crabe aux petits légumes et Granny Smith (shredded crab with little vegetables and pieces of Granny Smith apple). Both were delicious. For our main dishes I had a pavé de cerf (deer steak), which was ample and perfectly cooked. My wife had fish, also cooked to perfection. I don't recall the wine we ordered, but the choice was from wines that were at their peak (not just wines one or two years old), yet the prices were reasonable. One remark about the decore: it manages to be a bit traditional and modern at the same time, with reproductions of paintings by Modigliani and various early 20th-century (mainly French) artists adorning the wall.Overall, a restaurant worth going out of your way for."
